Cytiva is looking for a software engineering manager who will be located in Eysins (Switzerland) and be part of a multidisciplinary and global R&D team developing manufacturing equipment aiming to process biological cells in the field of cellular therapies. This position supports Cell and Gene Therapy R&D in all aspects of the software development lifecycle. This is a senior role supporting a significant growth business within Cytiva. The ideal candidate brings outstanding leadership, teambuilding skills, communications skills, excellent technical expertise and creative thinking to the organization. The role reports to the Director Software Engineering within Cell and Gene Therapy R&D.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and monitor creation/maintenance of new and existing software products for Cell processing and expansion systems.

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary software development team of approximately 10 members.

  • Manage off-site temporary resources necessary to accommodate workload fluctuations and goal achievement.

  • Work with a functional leadership team on defining product development strategy.

  • Contribute directly to the leadership of projects where necessary.

  • Drive results in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Ensure quality and consistency of software deliverables; code, lifecycle documents, etc.

  • Comply to the quality management system and applicable regulatory requirements (ex. ISO13485).

  • Ensure teams have the resources and execution methodologies to succeed.

  • Ensure excellent working relationship between software team and other teams (e.g. hardware, consumables, service, manufacturing) to contribute to on-time and on-budget delivery of complete integrated products.

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of project status. Assist project management to resolve issues.

  • Understand the product roadmap and provide accurate information about team capacity to inform roadmap negotiations.

  • Develop team to meet the software needs of the established Product Development Roadmap.

Who you are

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science (or related field) with at least 9 years of experience or Master’s degree with at least 7 years of related experience.

  • Experience of instrumentation software in C#/.NET/WPF/WCF for the Life Sciences or Medical Devices field.

  • Experience of leading and developing Software Engineers (at least 4+ years).

  • Experience of working with geographically distributed teams.

  • Experience of agile/scrum software development processes.

  • Excellent communication & presentation skills.

  • Bilingual English and French speaking Preferred.

  • Proactive and results-oriented problem solver.

  • Strong business acumen.

  • Demonstrated history of continuous process improvement.

  • Excellent team building skills - creating a sense of team driven by common goals, motivation, facilitation, and conflict resolution.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

  • Experience in Cell processing systems and/or Cell expansion systems is a plus.

  • Experience with both embedded software and application software is highly desirable.
