Danaher Corporation Product Engineer in Fajardo, Puerto Rico

Determines the optimal manufacturing methods and processes for producing company products from start-up, building the product line, through satisfactory production. This includes analyzing engineering design documents to establish manufacturing methods and processes to manufacture a component, creating conceptual sketches and initiating the design and building of required tooling. Describes outside vendor services needed for the manufacture of a component. Establishes outsourced vendor manufacturing & quality plans. Roles that drive improvement to product cost, quality and performance by utilizing Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) methodologies should be assigned to this job family. Jobs that provide engineering technical support in this field should be assigned to this job family.

Position Overview

Manage, coordinate and plan activities related to new product introduction inter-company product transfer, new product design and/or equipment procurement for existing or new products.


  • Maintains production by supporting new products, processes, machinery/equipment as requirement.

  • Maintains production capacity by coordinating the design, build and installation of state-of-the-art custom manufacturing equipment.

  • Build machine specifications by soliciting design criteria from global users.

  • Prepares and maintains documentation by doing periodic project status reports, project updates, audits, engineering reports, data summaries, project schedules, project files and Quality certifications.

  • Prepares documentation by writing and redacting Scope of work, Business case, Machine Description, Request for Quotation, Validation protocol and reports.

  • Integrate and align efforts from different sources by advising, supervising and/or otherwise managing project team members and/or contractors as required for successful project completion.

  • Ensures required personnel are capable to realize new tasks by preparing training materials, conduct training sections for new product and processes.

  • Controls expenses by gathering and submitting budget information; scheduling expenditures; supervising variances; implementing corrective actions.

  • Support new product, new equipment, transfer projects management (planning, execution, reporting, tasks coordination, etc.)

  • Provides quality service by implementing quality and customer service standards.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmark state-of-the-art practices.

  • Gives to team effort by accomplishing related results; keeping business information confidential; coordinating the system security; ensuring data accuracy and integrity; assuring systems compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate standards; ensuring a safe and healthy environment.

  • Complies with QRS, ISO and all applicable laws and company procedures.

  • Contributes to the completion of routine technical tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical preferable

  • 1 - 2 years of related experience in an Engineering environment

  • EIT or PE License preferred. Active member CIAPR

  • Good oral and written communication skills (English and Spanish)

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Project Management, Statistics

  • Experience in the management of medium projects involving multi-disciplinary components

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project software

  • Knowledge in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing concepts
