The Software Developer Engineer in Test (Automation) will conduct testing activity involving V&V of the embedded software, software applications as well as hardware in the loop testing of supported devices. The successful candidate is an experienced SDET (Automation Engineer) to assist with defining test automation development activities. In addition to developing test automation scripts, this person will evaluate the existing framework, find opportunities for improvement, and assist in the development of a plan to ramp up automation globally. The Software Developer Engineer in Test will work closely with the V&V Manager, development teams, test teams, project managers, and program managers across the global organization to drive a common solution for test automation. This engineer will be responsible for identifying and estimating test automation integration with both existing and future automation test and test management applications, including TestComplete, Robot, SpiraTeam, VersionOne, and others.
Review and understand product requirements.
Contribute to updating automated test cases to satisfy V&V and regulatory needs.
Ensure automated tests are repeatable, comprehensive, correct, maintainable, and have clear and objective pass/fail criteria.
Identify manual test cases for automation and develop those test cases
Continually evaluate test automation framework for opportunities for improvement.
Recommend and approve improvements.
Execute automated test scripts.
Understand and follow Test Strategies and Plans.
Execute the set up and maintenance of various test environments to ensure proper coverage throughout V&V phases.
Ensure QSM processes are adhered to throughout the product development cycle.
Work with team to ensure issues found in test are logged and escalated appropriately.
Provide clear summary of test results, issues, and appropriate metrics to Management.
Execute manual test cases when needed.
Required Education, Skills & Experience
4-year engineering degree (Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent industry experience
A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in Systems Software/Hardware Testing including the application of test processes throughout the SDLC.
Experience with Test Complete, Robot, Selenium, and other automation applications
Experience in testing automated electro-mechanical and optical instruments
Experience in working with international teams on projects.
Experience in Agile development processes and methodologies.
Experience with ALM/test case management software such as Quality Center or SpiraTeam.
Experience with test bed management software and deployment utilities such as VMWARE, Acronis, Jenkins or Ghost
Experience in use of test automation tools e.g. Selenium, Test Complete, Python and other automation applications
Highly motivated and have strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Desired Education, Skills & Experience
Experience with the Medical Device/IVD or other regulated environments with exposure to design control regulations
Experience with white or grey box testing is a plus
Experience with motion control, camera interface and communication protocols are a plus
Experience with programming languages, especially JS or C##
