Danaher Corporation Director, Procurement in Glen Allen, Virginia

ChemTreat, part of Danaher’s Water Quality Platform is hiring a Director, Global Procurement, reporting to the Vice President, Global Operations.

You will provide global leadership to ChemTreat’s procurement organization, which includes strategic procurement, value engineering and sourcing throughout sites located in the Americas. ChemTreat is a nearly $600M business and you will be responsible for the design of the operating model for the function. This requires strong experience in the development of processes, measurement tools and the ability to collaborate across the business and get things done through formal and informal relationships within and across OpCo’s.

What will you do?

Responsibilities for this will include various cost improvements. You will support new product development by prioritizing and allocating resources; oversee process improvement and breakthroughs within procurement in accordance with company strategies, develop and maintain strong collaborative partnerships with leading specialists, other companies, and ensures all ISO, and related regulatory requirements are consistently met. In addition, you will:

  • Establish and approves organizational objectives and assignments, delegating assignments to staff of 6 direct reports and 6 indirect reports

  • Forecast staffing requirements across multiple departments

  • Develop resource strategies, allocates budgets, staff, tools, and specialized support vital for cost-effective business solutions

  • Review and monitors operating budgets

  • Lead the group’s involvement in the planning processes; participates in the division, corporate strategy, and tactical planning processes

  • Communicate project status to executive management, users, and staff that can have company-wide impact

  • Champion for the Danaher Business System (DBS)

  • Continuous Improvement: Support Policy Deployment in support of Company-wide breakthrough goals.

  • Identify breakthrough activities, resource them appropriately, and apply Kaizen and visual management activities. Develop a DBS culture and team to ensure smooth business growth and management succession.

  • Supply-chain Management: Develop a global supplier base capable of improving QDC metrics year over year, achieve PD goals on growth and PPV

  • Seek opportunities to enhance and evolve existing cross-team operational workflows through the effective use of people/process/technology

  • Develop commodity strategies to support short and long-term PD goals.

  • Lead team to provide market analysis on pricing trends and underlying cost drivers that affect product costs

  • Coordinate with Danaher Corporate Purchasing, Commodity Team Leaders and PPL’s to capitalize on the economies of scale provided by our relationship

  • Enlist all associates in the commitment to excellence by communicating appropriate business information in a timely manner.

  • Help create and execute level 1, 2 & 3 Policy Deployment by identifying their area’s breakthroughs, building the matrix and bowling chart, and ensuring action plans are resourced and achievable. Drive a culture of stretch goal attainment utilizing DBS.

  • Great leaders develop over time… a minimum of 6 years’ experience in leadership and management to include developing & mentoring high-performance teams across multi-departmental organizations and across multiple countries

  • Substantial experience working cross-functionally with R&D, product marketing, finance and other functional teams in product development / New Product Introduction

  • Demonstrated results in leading Purchase Price Variance cost reductions, supplier risk analyses and management, commodity strategy development, and inventory and cash flow improvements across multiple sites

  • Financial/cost accounting experience managing multiple cost centers and budgets.

  • Team player with strong customer orientation and ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of experience or Master’s/Doctoral degree with 10+ years’ experience
