Partner with X-Rite’s key customers, R&D leaders, Service and Applications experts to specify and develop the next generation of innovations for our business. Reporting to the X-Rite President and alongside your peers in X-Rite’s senior leadership team, you will help chart the course for our global business with its 800+ associates. Our main development centers are in Regensdorf, Switzerland (near Zurich) and we are looking for a strong business leader to manage, develop, and drive the entire global product portfolio for X-Rite, a $250M business within the Product Identification Platform (http://https://jobs.danaher.com/global/en/within-product-identification) of Danaher Corporation.

A hybrid role, you will have the opportunity to work at least 2 days per week from one of our development centers in either Switzerland or Michigan, USA with remote work the rest of the time. You will occasionally travel globally.

The Challenge

The Vice President Product Management will lead, manage, and inspire a global team of 21 professionals through six direct reports. You will be accountable to deliver product solutions, new product development initiatives, and continued support of legacy products.

In this role, you will establish and maintain robust industry familiarity and relationships to gain an authoritative understanding of sales and marketing opportunities. S/he/they will move quickly to build trusted relationships with customers and key account opportunities in X-Rite’s prioritized market verticals.

Main Responsibilities

To achieve success in this role, the VP will also:

  • Execute and continuously improve X-Rite’s process to successfully align the portfolio requirements defined by the Product Planning group with the technical feasibility assessments from the R&D organization to develop a rationalized product roadmap.

  • Manage a global team of product management experts who are responsible for product lifecycle from definition to end-of-service within X-Rite’s market segments. The team must:

  • Continuously cultivate vertically specific expertise with key account and key customer relationships in X-Rite’s prioritized market verticals.

  • Create product concepts and negotiate requirements with R&D to maximize customer benefit while controlling development costs, time, and risk.

  • Manage product commercialization through a toll-gate process and ensure requirements are met.

  • Lead key Sales, Marketing, and Application experts during the product development process to define value proposition statements and product messaging.

  • Develop an effective knowledge-transfer program of new product launches for internal and external stakeholders and partners. Supervise the implementation of this program and achieve the planned revenue from new products.

  • Develop pricing, revenue and gross margin forecasts based on market sizing and customer value. Perform regular product-line reviews and problem solving to identify and correct gaps to plan.

  • Work with the Regional and Large Accounts Sales Managers and Global and Regional Marketing teams to create, lead and support vertically specific growth initiatives.

  • Continuously improve metrics including achievement of new product revenue, on-time delivery of new products, platform reuse, business unit growth, product gross margin and quality.

  • Define and continuously improve common design standards across the portfolio to enhance usability, ease of deployment, serviceability and brand awareness for our customers and our internal teams.

  • Coordinate with the Global Service team to develop support services to increase customer satisfaction within the market.

The Successful Candidate

Will have demonstrated success in a senior product or P&L role, with experience innovating and managing a technical product portfolio to grow revenue, profitability, and market share. S/he/they will also have a successful track record of developing and executing on strategies and tactics in channel management, pricing, and strategy, and a continuous-improvement and metrics-driven mindset.


  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in product management in comparable B2B / growth-oriented industries with at least 3 years in a senior management position.

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Marketing or Engineering; MBA preferred.

  • Experience across the entire product continuum, from NPD to obsolesce.

  • Experience with revenue models featuring equipment, digital applications, physical services, and remote services. SaaS experience a plus.

  • Ability to conduct fact-based research and analysis of market, competitor, and customer data, and utilize the data to drive short- and long-term tactics and strategy

  • Preferred experience working in a lean / kaizen culture, with a track record of utilizing these tools in a commercial setting.
