Description
Beckman Coulter’s Particle Counting and Characterization business is growing and needs technical leaders to work as part of our team to develop and deliver new products. The Staff Software Engineer applies modern development methodologies and experience with new software technologies to create world class products. The Staff Software Engineer leads a cross functional project team to develop new products and sustain existing product lines. An understanding of best practices for delivering co-developed hardware and software is required in this role. An understanding of hardware interfaces, human interfaces, and the impact of hardware choices on software design is required. * Collaborate with a broad range of people to derive requirements and deliver products that change the world * Use user-centered design to deliver products that delight our customers * Lead design of major software components * Cultivate innovation * Challenge status quo whilst supporting a world class product development life cycle * Mentor and be mentored by your team members in development techniques and technologies * Provide technical guidance and leadership for our software development teams. * Participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing, and certification of software. Understand and apply automated test strategies to the entire development life cycle. * Demonstrate experience with a broad range of software technologies and the ability to make technical choices objectively. * Provide technical leadership for global development efforts. * Build relationships with peers across the business and uses these relationships to drive innovation. * Actively tracks developments in the software community and incorporates them where appropriate. * Provide guidance to the organization for strategic planning and technology.

Qualification
* BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field * 10 years of demonstrated success delivering software products using agile software development techniques * Experience developing production software for desktop computing or embedded devices * Experience delivering successful IoT or embedded web applications * You are an expert in test driven development * Experience designing REST APIs and consuming RESTful services * Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills * Demonstrated experience architecting and developing successful large scale design * Relentless focus on optimizing time to market while increasing quality * You have an exceptional ability to find and share tools that optimize your work * We are agile, we inspire and embrace change, we expect that from you too Your experience includes these crucial skills: * Ability to communicate software and system design * Automated testing * Automated software delivery pipelines * Continuous Integration * Ability to work with customers to understand their needs and translate them into requirements and design * User Experience (UX) / User Interface design and implementation * Excellent Communication and Presentation Skills * Technical Leadership * Modern software development methodologies including Agile and Scrum * 10 years experience with at least one of: C , C#, Rust, GoLang, JavaScript or Java * 10 years experience with at least one of: Ruby, Python, Perl * Product development for Linux OS * Product development for Windows OS * Product development for mobile Web platform * Networking and Communications Protocols * Localization and Internationalization * Strong background with networking or security Tools we use: * Container services (Docker, Kubernetes, etc) * Maven, Jenkins, Git, Jira, Confluence * C#, C , Javascript, Rust, Ruby, Python * Windows, Linux, AWS, .Net, Mono, QT * Cloud - Amazon Web Services including EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, Rouge53, ALB, container services * NoSQL - i.e. MongoDB, CouchDB, DynamoDB * Relational DB - MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL * Machine learning * Big data analytics * Numerical analysis #LI-SM1
