We are looking for a Field Application Scientist (FAS) who can be located anywhere in our European territory. The BioPharma FAS’s main responsibilities will include pre- and post-sales support for our BioPharma product line that includes hardware, software and reagents.

Key Relationships:

European Sales/Applications Scientist Manager. Field based applications colleagues worldwide. Customers, both internally and externally, throughout Molecular Devices and the wider Danaher Corporation. Technical Support and Field Service teams. Sales and Marketing colleagues worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, track and meet requirements for yearly Performance and Development goals

  • 50% Travel

  • Attend weekly/monthly calls with BR/DD FAS and Imaging/BPD FAS teams Assist in upkeep of demo laboratory & stock etc. and help maintain SFDC instrument calendar

  • Attend weekly/monthly FAS meetings Maintain demo Won/Lost spreadsheet and report monthly to EU BioPharma Sales Manager Tactical planning for strategic execution

  • Provide high level support to delight existing and potential customers Support Account Managers to provide technical and applications assistance in response to customer enquiries, both remote and onsite.

  • Perform product demonstrations and support evaluations on-site, in-house, or remote

  • Prepare and present seminars to existing and potential customers.

  • Provide in-depth applications training to customers either remotely or at their facilities.

  • Report on activities in the field on a regular basis to sales management

  • Perform sample work-ups and testing of customer assays in the UK facilities, assist in the development of new applications and methods in conjunction with customers and colleagues.

  • Report on technical trends by relating customer and competitor feedback to appropriate people within the Company and provide assistance in generating marketing materials Provide technical training for account managers to develop technical selling strategies vs. competitor systems Provide reports and feedback on new product capabilities and acceptance criteria Take responsibility for own personal development and maintaining current knowledge of the scientific market and competition. Be aware of Health and Safety and conduct yourself in a way that does not put you or any other person at risk.

Person Specification:

The jobholder should possess the qualifications, experience and skills set out below to meet the requirements of the role as well as embrace the Danaher Values:

Qualifications:

  • Essential - BSc degree, in life science technology with an emphasis in (molecular) biology or biochemistry with relevant post-graduate experience, or, a PhD. Able to demonstrate strong practical knowledge. Be current member of the Molecular Devices Field Applications team.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years post graduate experience in life science technology.

Skills:

  • Technical knowledge and experience with microbial colony picking Cell Line Development (CLD), Gene Therapy, and Monoclonality workflows are required

  • Be highly motivated with excellent organisational skills and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and management

  • Good track record of being able to delegate effectively, working closely with colleagues and of having organized trainings/meetings

  • Be results-driven and focused

  • Able to demonstrate a high degree of technical competence and confidence.

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills with the ability to interface with the scientific community and colleagues at all levels.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently or as part of a geographically diverse team.

  • Ability to work together in a positive, constructive way with customers and colleagues in anticipating and resolving issues.

  • A second European language will be useful (but not required).

Personal attributes:

  • Be energetic, enthusiastic and self-motivated.

  • Able to operate effectively in a field based role.

  • Flexible in working hours to accommodate travel and communications.

  • Able to regularly and easily visit the UK facilities in Wokingham, Berkshire

  • Able to regularly travel and work away from home nationally and in Europe with occasional international travel to the U.S. and beyond

  • Full European driving license
