Based at our US Distribution Headquarters in the Cincinnati Tri-State area, the Global Logistics Packaging Engineer (Perishables/Cold Chain) reports to the Senior Manager of Logistics. The critical aspects of this role will be focusing on perishables packaging design and global logistics system & processes. The successful candidate will have hands on expertise developing packaging systems and protocols on a global scale in a heavily regulated perishable product environment. In addition, the role includes developing cost effective solutions, developing secondary packaging systems, establishing contract packaging organizations (CPOs), and qualifying cold-chain shipping solutions. This position requires partnership with Global Supply Chain, QA/QC, Technical Development, Regulatory Affairs to implement new processes and manage changes. This position participates in the development of a product delivery system to support a medical device diagnostics network. The candidate is accountable for the implementation, sustainment, improvement, and expansion of business solutions in areas of their responsibility.

Critical areas of Responsibility * Business leader and process owner for global product delivery system solutions across 160 countries and ship from over 50 distribution locations. Partners closely with vendor and business partners developing and expanding solution as required. * Proficient executing thermal modeling, thermal validation and test protocols. * Develop comprehensive and sustainable shipping controls processes and methodology, including but not limited to, package configuration options, packaging cost analysis, lane analysis, package design change and shipping configuration change impact analysis, temperature control validation, time & conditions transit tracking. * Serves as the business lead for cold chain solution development, implementation, and ongoing key performance management. * Develop rigorous strategies to reduce costs and supply risk through disciplined analysis, analytics, trending and modeling of key operational data * Interacts with government agencies in the logistics areas to determine the most efficient and effective processes for cold chain management, import/export, chain of identity, chain of custody. * Acts as the business lead for future implementations and expansions. Develops project plan, change management strategy, communication plans, testing requirements, training strategy, documentation, etc.

Other areas of Responsibility * Performs impact assessment on new or changing capability, including impact to GxP, Chain of Identity/Chain of Custody, SOPs, Training, SOX, and Data Integrity. * Leads development of user requirements and use cases. * Developing tools, processes, and criteria to evaluate supplier performance * Development of program templates, test plans, test execution, communication, audit, and corrective actions. * Collaborates with a variety of functional groups and leadership, including Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical Operations, Commercial, Product Sciences, Finance, and IT on process improvements and cross-functional impact assessments. * Partners with Quality, Regulatory and Process Development to develop compliant business system solutions. * Owns non-conformances, CAPAs, and change controls as needed * Partners with peers on implementation of super user strategy and capabilities for long-term sustainment and continuous improvement of core processes. * Authors and/or revises Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions and training materials as required. * Proficiency developing performance standards and related metrics in support of solutions proposed. * Demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills to work across functions and influence to facilitate execution of key projects and initiatives aligned with corporate vision. * Strength in communicating and working independently and effectively with broad stakeholders in various scientific/technical/business disciplines. * Excellent public speaking and presentation skills at all levels of the organization and customer environment. * Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.

* Bachelor’s Degree required, (Master’s Degree highly desired), in technical packaging engineering & design, including a specialty concentration in perishables. (i.e., pharm, BioTech/Engineering, med device, FDA regulated). * Minor or supplemental education in Global Supply Chain highly desired. * 9 years total in Package Engineering and logistics field with thorough knowledge of GMP and Supply Chain systems and processes o 5 years of related pharmaceutical, medical device industry global logistics. o 5 years direct leadership experience dedicated to cold chain / perishables global solutions o 3 years’ experience of full scope global project management in Cold Chain delivery. * CPE or CPP certification highly desired Travel * Global Travel will be required (up to 25%).
