Danaher Corporation Business Development Manager in Hemet, California

Position summary:

This role will be responsible for generating Flood Warning Network and SaaS Data Management Solution sales growth within the municipal/county hydrological customer base by working as part of a team that sells and supports a complete solution consisting of SaaS data management software, water quantity/quality sensors, data loggers, and transmitters. Establish professional relationships with key personnel in targeted customer accounts and strategic partners and strive to meet assigned targets for profitable sales volume and margin dollars.

Sales territory:

United States - West.

Our ideal candidate is based in Western USA and has experience selling software solutions in an environmental based industry. Municipal selling experience would be a bonus!

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Discover and drive new enterprise software solutions to engineering firms and urban flood & storm water management professionals within the municipal/county governments.

  • Identify and prospect target accounts through phone and email outreach

  • Conduct high level discovery calls with C-suite, VP and decision makers

  • Become a specialist in urban flood warning and data management solutions.

  • Participate in sales generating activities including virtual meetings, trade seminars, conferences, product demonstrations/evaluations, and customer seminars.

  • Collect and report information on all competitive activity, business opportunities, voice of customer, sales trends and results within the assigned market providing input during monthly business review.

  • Uses metrics, performance indicators and forecasting to self-manage productivity and report all sales activities through our CRM (SalesForce.com).

  • Support a team of Territory Sales Managers to meet bookings/sales targets

  • Travel 30-50% within specified geography.


  • 5 years track record of successful business development, preferably selling to state & local government agencies, consulting firms and system integrators.

  • Track record discovering enterprise software/SaaS deals and consistently exceeding sales targets.

  • Demonstrated independent, driven work ethic.

  • A degree in a science related field such as Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering or equivalent is an asset.

  • Certified Floodplain Manager, or similar certification/experience preferred.

  • Must have a valid driver license and acceptable driving record.
