The Director of Innovation DBS for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for driving global DBS capability and continuous improvement. The role is a key partner to the Business Unit VP/GM’s to develop both long- and short-term DBS strategies to drive the DBS Innovation processes and tools associated with Strategic Innovation Review and Product Planning Group as well as individual new product development programs. This individual is responsible to Implement the develop the DBS Innovation Roadmap and leading the organization with actions that close maturity gaps and build competitive advantage.

This position is part of the Hematology & Urinalysis Department located ON-SITE in Miami, Florida. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.
You will be a part of the Beckman Coulter’s Hematology and Urinalysis R&D and Manufacturing Center and report to the VP and GM of the Hematology and Urinalysis Business Unit responsible for being an active Leader in VPM installation, Kaizen’s, PSPs and Daily Management reviews (as appropriate). Help Danaher continue the evolution of the DBS tools (main contact here is DBS Office or DBSO). Improve DBS training and facilitation skills by pursuing certification in DBS tools (Certified Practitioner process for self and others). Serve as main point of contact for business unit interactions and events with the DBSO. Evaluate and approve Associates for Certified Practitioner certification. Directly provide formal and informal DBS training and coaching. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Implement Danaher Innovation Playbook to assess organization skills/capabilities. Develop strategic DBS action plan to drive improvement across critical business metrics and organizational maturity.
Lead and continuously improve maturity of Strategic Innovation Review and Product Planning Group processes.
Facilitate other DBS training sessions when appropriate (other trainers, consultants from Danaher, Shingijutsu or other).
Ensure successful kaizen events by installing and ensuring compliance to the kaizen process (includes; (1) planning of kaizens with a dynamic funnel process tied to PD and Daily Management, (2) kaizen execution and (3) sustainment of kaizens).
Promote and facilitate diagnosis of workflow impediments and other wastes throughout the business and provide expert counsel on appropriate DBS tools to eliminate them.
The essential requirements of the job include:
BS or BA Degree in Business, Science or Engineering with preference for 10+ years of experience in Product Development or a Master’s Degree preferred and preference for 8+ years of Product Development experience.
Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a “general manager’s” point of view.
Ability to champion DBS and develop and install best practices across diverse business environments.
Ability to work and influence all levels of the organization from Senior Leaders, Functional Leaders to project managers and practitioners in all functional areas.
Independent worker, capable of operating in a fast-moving, ever-changing environment and able to effectively deal with difficult situations.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Proven process improvement and change management skills
Effective coaching and mentoring skills
Ability to work with cross-functional teams globally
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
