The VP & GM, Viral Vector is responsible for leading the Viral Vector Business Unit and driving continuous improvement and ultimately ensuring long-term business success.

This position is part of the leadership team of the Genomic Medicine Operating Company which is one of 4 operating companies within Cytiva. The ideal candidate is located in Cologne, Germany. At Cytiva, our vision is, to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.

What you will do:

  • Overall P&L ownership for the viral vector business unit including leadership of Cytiva’s viral vector cell line business

  • Develop and ensure success of new, differentiated, innovative products while maximizing the revenue from the existing portfolio of products.

  • Pursue the integration of recently acquired Cell Line business (prev. Cevec), install as Cell Line COE for Genomic Medicine OpCo

  • Provide direction on strategy, rationalization and optimization for our sales channels for a global portfolio of products.

  • Evaluate / sponsor inorganic opportunities (from OI to M&A)

  • Contribute to the success of the Genomic Medicine OpCo as active senior member of the leadership team; contribute to Danaher progress in Advanced Therapies

  • Partner with R&D and Product Management across businesses and Operating companies to execute the New Product Development Roadmap and driving innovative business opportunities through a Phase-Gate Development process from “product ideation” phase to the “Ramp Up” phase of the projects. Assure maximum Return on Investment (ROI) considering capacity and capability gaps, channel gaps & incremental revenue and margin improvements.

  • Accelerate talent management to ensure the continued development for direct reports. Partner closely with the human resources organization in developing organizational capabilities through succession planning, organizational assessment, identification of key skill gaps, talent acquisition and talent development strategies that link with business goals.

  • Promote a culture of high performance, and continuous improvement to deliver in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving industry.

    Who you are:

  • Master’s Degree, Ph.D. or equivalent in related life sciences with 15+ years commercial, product development, strategic planning and general management experience in a related Life Sciences industry.

  • Data driven approach to decision making, track record of developing business cases or strategic proposals.

  • Experienced in building credibility with customers, key opinion leaders, internal stakeholders and ability to connect with senior leaders at global customers.

  • Seasoned leader with ability to develop and scale businesses and talent, having led seasoned functional experts and leader of leaders.

  • Proven experience leading successfully in a matrix environment - influential leadership

    It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Viral Vector/ Genomic Medicine workflows

  • Ideally have led large teams and P&L ownership
