Technical Applications Scientist

Position Summary 日本ポールのSLS (応用技術研究所)のライフサイエンス部門にて、クライアントへの総合的なテクニカルサポートをご担当いただくポジションです。営業部門と密接に連携し、優れた技術を提供することで、ビジネスの成長に貢献できるポジションです。

SLSについて(応用技術研究所-Scientific and Laboratory Services) SLS は、クライアントのろ過に関する問題を解決するために設けられた、ポール独自の組織です。世界各国の現地法人に生物学、発酵工学、化学、電子工学、機械工学など、さまざまなバックグラウンドを持つ研究者と技術者が配置されています。それぞれの国のSLSチームが連携し、「SLSグローバル・テクニカル・サポート」という世界的な組織として、クライアントの問題解決に貢献しています。

Responsibilitiesラボのサイエンティストとして、バイオテクノロジー製品のテクニカルサポートを提供します。 所属部署は、バイオテック事業部ですので、主だった製薬会社がクライアントとなります。クライアントからのご要望をプロジェクト化して各サイエンティストが担当しますので、そのテクニカルサポートと、プロジェクトマネージメントを実施します。テストプロトコルの準備や、実地試験、ラップアップはクライアント先で行うことが多く、日帰り~1週間程度の出張を伴います。

  • フィジビリティ評価、ろ過・フィルターの調査

  • スケールアップ・スケールダウンの実地試験、レポーティング

  • サイジング、適合性の提言

  • プロジェクトマネージメント

  • クライアントやプロダクトの問題のプラント調査と解決

  • 要望に応じて技術的なトレーニングやセミナーの開催

  • 技術に関するコンサルティング(バリデーション、プロセスの最適化、レギュラトリーサイエンス、等)

    Experience and qualifications

  • Science/Engineering分野の学部出身の方(バイオテクノロジー、化学、化学工学、バイオプロセス工学、ライフサイエンス、薬学、等)

  • 関連する実務経験がおありの方(1~5年程度)

  • 全国出張にご対応可能な方

  • ネイティブレベルの日本語力

  • 初級ビジネスレベルの英語力

  • GLP(Good Laboratory Practice)やGMP(Good Manufacturing Practice)に関するご経験がある方歓迎

Position Objective

  • Provide technical support for Pall Biotech technologies.

  • To use this expertise to develop and support customer processes.

  • Other aspects of support include, but are not limited to, technical training, technical presentations, troubleshooting of processes and field trials.

Essential Job Functions:

Technical support (40%)

Provide technical support for customer and Biotech products. This will include some or all of the following:

  • Feasibility assessments

  • Filterability studies

  • Scale up/scale down testing as Field trials

  • Sizing and Compatibility recommendations

  • Trouble shooting and Plant survey for customer/product issues.

  • Customer training and seminars

  • Technical Consultation (Validation studies, Process optimization, regulatory science etc.)

Project work (50%)

Take responsibility for assigned projects of moderate complexity, typically in only selected areas of coverage

  • Perform role of a project manager, to ensure projects assigned are completed in a timely and correctly manner.

  • Prepare adequate trial proposals/protocols based on information supplied by customer.

  • Perform technical discussions for customer process and products.

  • Perform laboratory work if required.

  • Interpret laboratory data and prepare specific test reports.

  • Close out of project reports and present results to customers.

Maintain close customer liaison during projects. This will involve some or all of the following:

  • Update customer of project status in particular if there are problems/issues with the project.

  • Answer customer technical questions in a timely manner.

  • Travel to customer sites for technical meetings and/or to perform field trial work.

  • Give presentations and trainings to operators, engineers, and potential heads of departments.

Collaborate with stakeholders (inside and/or outside) to achieve projects appropriately.

Establish project priorities and decide appropriate action required to meet required target.

Update manager/stakeholders of status of assigned projects, including completion, delays or problems.

Manage project progress using adequate tool and face to face meetings.

Supporting activities (10%)

  • Perform technical training for sales team as necessary.

  • Implement of participation and education for industry groups (PDA, ISPE etc.) and administrative organizations (MHLW, PMDA).

  • Conduct marketing support at exhibitions etc.

  • Attend training courses as required

  • Take on ‘special’ projects as requested by management.

Travel requirement:

Local travel in Japan to customer sites is expected to be at least up to 30% of the time. Oversea travel is expected if required.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science/Engineering (E.g. Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess engineering, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, etc.)

  • 5 years relevant work experience.

  • Experience under GLP and/or GMP will be plus.

  • Native level of Japanese and intermediate English skill.
