The ideal candidate will be based in Indianapolis, IN and will support the preparative and analytical ultracentrifuge product portfolio as an in-house Applications Scientist. The position works closely with customers and Product Managers, Applications Scientists, and Sales Specialists on the global Centrifuge team.
The Applications Scientist supports commercialization activities by generating application data and driving method development spanning the Beckman Centrifuge portfolio. This role will focus on producing various biologics (e.g., viral vectors and EVs/exosomes), developing novel purification protocols, and characterizing samples with methods including analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC).
A strong background in producing and characterizing various therapeutic biologics (e.g., viral vectors, EVs/exosomes, proteins) from mammalian cell culture in a BSL-2 environment.
Familiarity with standard biochemistry techniques such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, ELISA, SDS-PAGE.
Experience with transfection/transduction, small/mid-scale bioreactors, density gradient ultracentrifugation (DGUC), and analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC) highly preferred.
Additional experience with preparative and analytical chromatography (e.g., SEC, IEC, HPLC), DLS, NTA, and operating under GMP conditions preferred.
A minimum of a BS/BA degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics or related field with 4 years of experience or MS degree with 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. with 0 years of experience.
Ability to convincingly communicate data to various multi-functional teams.
Generate data to support customers, collaborations, new product development, and marketing.
Interact efficiently with collaborators and multi-functional teams around the world.
Ability to craft and execute experiments accurately and independently.
A dynamic, creative problem solver with analytical and problem-solving skills and interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
