The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible working within cross functional teams to facilitate technical problem solving and design to develop a diagnostic instrument. You will set the tone for a collaborative environment that values equity of voice, inclusive behaviors and trusting teams.

This position is part of the R&D Team and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA – On-site. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform System/Mechanical design, modeling, analysis and review.

  • Execute studies, perform calculations and engineering analyses (tolerance analysis, stress analysis, flow analysis) and generate drawings and graphical representations vital to define the new concepts developed. Perform consumables and hardware component assembly activities.

  • Work within and lead teams in a cross-disciplinary environment to plan and execute designs to meet project goals.

  • Facilitate technical problem solving and troubleshooting through proposed experimentation and alternative designs/approach.

  • Provide indirect leadership to other R&D Engineers.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience OR a MS degree with 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience.

  • Design experience in sophisticated electro-mechanical systems and solid modeling CAD systems.

  • Experience with hands-on machining, bench fabrication or similar.

  • Ability to work in the lab with biohazard materials.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Packaging of cameras, optics, printed circuit boards, and microfluidic pumps and valves.

  • Experience with injection molded plastics.

  • Design for manufacturability: Ease of assembly, Cost of Goods, second sourcing.

  • Experience doing simulation using Ansys or other tools.
