The New Product Introduction (NPI) Manufacturing Engineer is the manufacturing & supply chain readiness leader for Beckman Coulter Life Sciences instrument & system NPIs! This role is expected to use Danaher Business System (DBS) tools to manage all design transfer deliverables and applicable ramp-up activities. The role is designated as the key point of contact and collaborate with R&D in mapping out critical product technologies and incorporating design for manufacturability.
Manages an extended team to ensure all operation-focused project delivery, quality and cost metrics are met through development cycle; reports key status updates and risks/issues to project and operations leadership
Leads the part complexity leveling initiatives for each NPI program, partnering with internal procurement and R&D teams to finalize part and packaging design
Spearheads & leads all part reduction and error-proofing efforts during the design & development phases of product development
Develops manufacturing line setup, including custom test fixtures/tooling to ensure quality product is built/tested
Delivers clear, concise and consistent build & test instructions to the production value stream team
Sets up and delivers all finished good Bill of Materials correctly within ERP systems
Manages all pre-production builds and process/equipment validations required for a new manufacturing area.
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or Industrial Engineering Technology with 5+ years experience in manufacturing or process engineering.
Project Management/Leadership experience in leading and executing NPI projects (for manufacturing and supply chain scale-up activities in a regulated environment (FDA/ISO/Automotive) while meeting project timelines
Experience with instrumentation (equipment) design and integration including complex electro-mechanical systems, fluid handling, pneumatics, and thermal systems
Demonstrated capability to solve and improve mechanical and electromechanical systems using formal problem solving methodology with analytical and statistical methods.
Demonstrated technical leader with an ability to manage multiple priorities, focus efforts, overcome obstacles, and complete key objectives.
Travel estimated to be up to 25%
Project Management Certification (preferred but not required)
Lean Design/Design for Manufacturability
Project Scheduling & Management Tools (e.g. MS Project, JIRA, Agile)
ERP Experience (Oracle Preferred)
