The Process Engineer is responsible for providing high quality DNA microarrays, which are one of the core components of the consumable diagnostic platform being developed at Cepheid. In this role you will have the opportunity to influence the development of improved processes and to work cross-functionally across different departments and projects. This position is part of the Biochip R&D unit and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA location. At the Biochip R&D unit, our vision is to develop next generation diagnostic platforms.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Fabrication of high-precision DNA microarray components in a pilot facility cleanroom.
Inspection and assembly of consumable component parts. Operation/maintenance/validation of sophisticated automation equipment.
Support process development and transfer of documentation, and procedures, to external parties for manufacturing. Collect, document, summarize and communicate data/trends on a regular basis.
Where necessary trouble-shoot, problem-solve, improve processes. Follow established procedures and methods to ensure consistency and reduce variance.
Collaborate across disciplines to deliver critical consumables to internal customers and inclusive of an approachable and credible communication style.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or physical science plus three (3) or more years of process engineering experience.
Affinity towards instrumentation, automation, robotics, prototype equipment.
Experience in a relevant automation or manufacturing environment.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Experience with DNA microarray fabrication and/or non-contact printing.
Experience with semiconductor processes.
Experience with working in regulated environments.
