As a Field Application Specialist you will be in charge of the applications support for Beckman Coulter Life Sciences Automation and Liquid Handling products. You will assess customer needs around specific applications and workflows pre- and post-sales and provide solutions on how to develop, implement and automate such workflows with Beckman Coulter’s product portfolio. This process includes scoping, method development, optimization, and troubleshooting of the automation and liquid handling protocols. Scientific as well as method programming expertise paired with great interpersonal skills will be utilized throughout the process. In this role you will actively promote the company’s products and services and act as the direct contact person for our customers, when it comes to scientific and applications related questions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide applications support across multiple scientific subject areas including drug discovery and genomics.

  • Pair up with sales team for pre-sales presentations and serve as scientific and technical resource.

  • Build, adapt, and optimize liquid handling and automation protocols within customer projects and workflows.

  • Plan and execute product demonstrations for prospective customers.

  • Provide customer training and support; maintain positive customer relations.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose technical problems and serve as a liaison with internal customer support teams as needed.

  • Be prepared for up to 70% overnight domestic and international travel.

Qualification:

Beckman seeks a multi-talented scientist to join our FAS team. This is primarily a customer-facing role, in which you will work with scientists to understand their application requirements and help to adapt their workflows to the outstanding capabilities of our liquid handling and automation product portfolio. Our innovative instruments are used worldwide in multiple subject areas including genomics, drug discovery, cancer research, and synthetic biology. Our Field Application Specialists work closely with sales and support staff to provide high-level customer support before, during, and after a sale. Therefore, we need someone, who has bench experience, market knowledge, and is ready to expand their horizons and seek the next challenge as we enable scientists to automate assays and help accelerating answers to life’s important scientific and healthcare questions. We also need strong written and verbal communication skills to present the advantages of our product portfolio to scientific customers. The ideal candidate for this role has the following qualifications:

  • University degree in biological sciences, biotechnology or a related subject.

  • Hands-on experience with laboratory automation equipment is highly desirable.

  • A background in molecular biology and experience in Next Generation Sequencing is of advantage.

  • A previous experience of technical or applications support within a diagnostic or life science company is beneficial, but we also welcome motivated new starters.

  • Must be located in Germany close to a major transportation hub.

  • Must possess a valid driving license class B.

  • The position is home-based and will require up to 70% travel.

  • Fluency in German in addition to English is required for this role, any other additional European language is beneficial
