Motivated by the highest possible stakes of climate change and global health, we’re working together within a rapidly digitizing industry to find innovative technologies that guarantee the safety of our water and our environment. POSITION SUMMARY: The Design Test Engineering position applies principles of Test Engineering, with limited supervision or guidance, to design, develop and implement methods of validation and verification for OTT HydroMet Instrumentation during the research, development and maintenance lifecycles. Mentoring and guiding junior engineers is also expected, as is the leadership of cross-functional teams supporting test stand design.


  • Designs, develops and maintains in process test, final test, and verification test systems.

  • Collaborates with Product Management and Systems Engineering on translating customer requirements and product specifications that influence test stand and verification test architectures and key design decisions.

  • Troubleshoots, tracks and corrects identified issues in new and existing products that have design related sources.

  • May take leadership role in quality initiatives related to design topics

  • Owns final test stand design swimlane on NPD projects

  • Supports System Engineer on error budgets

  • Collaborates globally with other test stand engineers to develop standard work and reuseable design elements that enables higher design quality, global consistency, and faster deisgn times.


  • Bachelor´s degree with a minimum of 15 years of directly relevant experience or a Master´s degree with 10 years of directly relevant experience; electrical/computer engineering preferred.

  • Detailed knowledge of ISO quality systems (specifically Design Controls/Product Realization) and related requirements.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in test software application development

  • Strong understanding of embedded systems and software development

  • Proficient in C/C++ and Labview

  • Proficient in the use of standard test and measurement equipment

  • Basic understanding of hardware prototype bring-up, debug and fault detection

  • Basic understanding of communication interfaces such as RS232, TCP/IP and USB

  • Specialization in two or more of the following areas: Metrology and error budgets, electrical test design, Labview / Test Stand


  • Design, Entwicklung und Pflege der Systeme für Prozess-, End- und Verifizierungstests.

  • Zusammenarbeit mit dem Produktmanagement und der Systemtechnik bei der Umsetzung von Kundenanforderungen und Produktspezifikationen, die die Architektur von Prüfständen und Verifikationstests sowie wichtige Designentscheidungen beeinflussen.

  • Behebt, verfolgt und korrigiert identifizierte Probleme in neuen und bestehenden Produkten, die designbezogene Ursachen haben.

  • Kann eine führende Rolle bei Qualitätsinitiativen in Bezug auf Designthemen übernehmen

  • Ist bei NPD-Projekten für das Design des endgültigen Prüfstands verantwortlich

  • Unterstützt den Systemingenieur bei Fehlerbudgets

  • Arbeitet weltweit mit anderen Design Test Engineers zusammen, um Standardarbeit und wieder verwendbare Designelemente zu entwickeln, die eine höhere Designqualität, globale Konsistenz und kürzere Entwicklungszeiten ermöglichen.


  • Abgeschlossenes Bachelor-Studium mit mindestens 15 Jahren einschlägiger Erfahrung oder Master-Studium mit 10 Jahren einschlägiger Erfahrung; idealerweise im Bereich Elektrotechnik/Informatik.

  • Detaillierte Kenntnisse der ISO-Qualitätssysteme (insbesondere Design Controls/Product Realization)

  • Sicher im Umgang mit der Entwicklung von Testsoftwareanwendungen

  • Ausgeprägtes Verständnis von embedded-Systemen und Softwareentwicklung

  • Kenntnisse in C/C++ und Labview

  • Kenntnisse in der Verwendung von Standardtest- und -messgeräten

  • Grundlegende Kenntnisse über die Erstellung von Hardware-Prototypen, Fehlersuche und Fehlererkennung

  • Grundlegendes Verständnis von Kommunikationsschnittstellen wie RS232, TCP/IP und USB

  • Spezialisierung in zwei oder mehr der folgenden Bereiche: Messtechnik und Fehlerbudgets, elektrischer Testentwurf, Labview / Prüfstand
