POSITION SUMMARY

Hach Ireland currently have a vacancy for an R&D project Manager.

The primary role of this position is the management of one or more projects within the R&D organization, mainly for the Cork and Geneva facility. This includes the coordination of cross-functional team members' activities to meet the prescribed design requirements, schedule, and production readiness, while also meeting product and project cost goals, quality and reliability objectives and serving as the point of contact for all communication to the project sponsor and senior management.

The project manager may act as project leader on derivative and sustaining products with full responsibility and accountability for all aspects of the project including leading the product definition, design, commercialization and release to manufacturing.

Essential Functions:

  • Is responsible for the development and maintenance of programs that lead from product conception to definition, design, and manufacturing release.

  • Projects can be software, mechanical, electronic or complete analytical systems in nature.

  • Develops, maintains, and executes detailed project schedules, budgets and other project targets.

  • Facilitates development efforts by team members at various company facilities.

  • Obtains and assigns human and financial/capital resource requirements to ensure successful development projects.

  • Is responsible either directly or indirectly for all project management requirements. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Creating and maintaining project schedules, effective meeting facilitation, leads technical meetings as required.

  • Coordinating and recording design review meetings and discussions.

  • Compiling, recording, and distributing required status reports, test results, and other required documentation.

  • Maintaining development related documentation and the project history file.

  • Organizes and actively participates in design reviews and project phase change reviews.

  • Utilizes and helps improve processes and systems.

  • Adheres to quality and reliability system requirements in the development of new products.

  • Develops and fosters contacts with customers, suppliers, technical experts, sales & marketing and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications and skill requirements:

  • BE or BS in engineering or the physical sciences, or equivalent experience.

  • A proven record in project management, with project management training.

  • 4 years of experience in product development working in an engineering, software, or manufacturing role.

  • Collaborate with the cross functional team including User Experience (UX), Software, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering.

  • Broad understanding of products and processes, including design, manufacturing, and market evaluation of products.

  • Working knowledge of new product development methodologies such as Visual Project Management and Speed Design Review.

  • Ability to utilize commonly available project management tools to assist in the development of, and adherence to a project schedule.

  • Fast learner, enthusiastic and curious, a logical, creative and innovative thinker. Brings solutions to the team.

  • An understanding of software development, analytical instrumentation, sensor technology and optical analysis techniques would be a benefit.

  • Comfortable in a global environment.

  • Strong hands-on skills.

  • Occasional foreign travel or travel outside the normal work location may be required.

  • Full driving licence.
