The Manufacturing Support Manager is responsible for a failure investigation team consisting of approximately 3-7 individuals focused on diagnosing and resolving technical issues and providing technical recommendations. Issues may arise from both internal and external customers, including, but not limited to, production, customer complaints, and development.

This position is part of the Failure Investigation department and will be located in Lodi, CA. At Cepheid, our vision is to ensure that every patient has access to the right diagnostic test at the right time.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Manage Scientists and/or Engineers within the Technical Operations Team

  • Support various R&D activities related failure analysis, ADF & robustness reviews

  • Monitor SPT data and lead investigations and root cause analysis for out of control events

  • Support manufacturing activities for first-line investigations of product or process failures

  • Recommend/escalate immediate and long-term corrective actions with cross-functional teams

  • Perform complex data analysis to identify trends and areas for investigation

  • Design and execute experiments as part of investigations

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Master's degree or higher in Life Science or Engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level

  • Minimum of 5-8 years relevant experience with molecular biology products or molecular diagnostic product utilizing nucleic acid amplification tests (Ex: PCR, RT-PCT etc.) including system level relationship between reagents, consumable, and instrument components

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience with design of experiments (DoE)

  • Experience with test automation including scripting

  • Experience with root cause analysis techniques and documentation of results

  • Experience working in a biology lab environment with clinical specimens
