Danaher Corporation Maintenance Engineering Sr. Equipment Engineer in Lodi, California

The Sr. Equipment Engineer will have the responsibility to sustain, maintain and improve the equipment performance of consumables production automation equipment in a high volume manufacturing environment at the Sunnyvale factory. Role will require hands on engagement at the tool, troubleshooting mechanical, electro-mechanical, electrical and automation controls and implementing solutions for chronic/systemic problems.


Perform troubleshooting and corrective maintenance on custom automation equipment

Execute Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks

Generate, write and continuously improve PM procedures

Implement continuous improvement projects on manufacturing automation equipment

Complete Engineering Change Orders (ECO) to Work Instructions, Tool (IOPQ) Protocols, Drawings and BOM lists

Drive initiatives to improve product quality, increase part throughout, decrease equipment downtime, and strengthen safety measures

Train equipment maintenance technicians

Work with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues

Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services

Writing and following established maintenance procedures

Ability to drive design changes on equipment to improve performance

Drive improvement of equipment metrics (MTTR and MTBF)


Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time


Education and Experience (in years):

Bachelor’s degree in field with 5+ years of related work experience OR

Master’s degree in field with 3+ years of related work experience OR

Doctoral degree in field with 0-2 years of related work experience.

Knowledge and skills:

Excellent written and oral communications skills

Hands-on equipment experience with hand tools and machine shop tooling expertise

Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with a strong technical presence

Good Understanding of mechanical design concepts and machinery: Electrical, Mechanical, and Electromechanical schematics, motors, pumps, vacuum, and hydraulics


Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience

Minimum of 6-8 years of relevant experience

Plastic Injection Molding a plus

Knowledge and proficiency in Solidworks CAD modeling a plus

Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

Lean 5S Manufacturing knowledge

PLC and Control Systems


Agile Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)

Project Management skills

Vision and Laser Systems

Equipment retrofit upgrades and qualifications
