Danaher Corporation Manager, Operations Development Training Programs in Lodi, California

POSITION SUMMARY:

Cepheid’s mission: Delivering A Better Way to improve patient outcomes by enabling access to molecular diagnostic testing everywhere.

Cepheid is seeking a curious, engaging, and driven Manager to lead the Lodi Plastics Operations Development team. This role supports Cepheid’s mission by collaborating with the Lodi Site Leadership Team to define, develop and manage site training and development programs. As the Manager of Operations Development Programs in Plastics Operations, you will manage multi-disciplinary programs, determine the approach, design objectives and work with subject matter experts to develop learning solutions and ensure efficient and effective implementation through all phases of the program(s). These programs will involve developing programs related to both mandatory training associated with job requirements and optional trainings related to career development.

This position requires a strong understanding of communications, project management, and general business processes/operations, as well as the willingness to adapt to and excel in a dynamic business environment. You should be a pro-active problem solver who thrives working with several stakeholders to drive cross-functional teams to a creative, workable solution. You should also feel comfortable with the field of learning & development, stay up to date with the latest communication and learning technologies, and be able to tailor your communication to a wide variety of audiences.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Study, follow and emphasize all Environmental Health and Safety and Cepheid Quality System policies and practices to ensure world-class safety, quality and compliance in all aspects of job-related activities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of Lodi Plastics Operations across all functions and partner with leaders to determine learning and development program priorities

  • Evaluate entire Lodi Plastics Operation’s training programs, make recommendations and work with the Site Leadership Team to improve, develop, implement and sustain thorough and effective training programs

  • Lead and manage our Lodi Site Apprenticeship, Internship and Early Career Development programs with involvement and influence regarding similar programs at other Cepheid Sites

  • Provide training, support and monitoring to ensure Lodi Site goals are effectively defined, actionable and progressing

  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously to support the Plastics Operations Development programs from start to finish, managing plan, tasks, risks and issues resolution, communications and implementation

  • Develop, monitor, report and sustain metrics related to training effectiveness, development program effectiveness and

  • Develop, implement and review operational policies and procedures

  • Manage instructor led training facilities, staff, and associated responsibilities

  • Coordinates resources, provides clear direction and timelines for deliverables, and delegates tasks across the project team

  • Produces learning tools and communications that are simple, clear, and drive adoption of learning strategies

  • Conduct analysis of program offerings & solutions across Plastics Operations topics to ensure all offerings achieve desired results

  • Create and execute strategies for continuous process improvement in program implementation and impact

TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES: (REQUIRED)

  • Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time

  • For people managers, ensure your associates attend and complete all required trainings satisfactorily and on time

  • Ensure all team members have training and experience required to support project requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience (in years):

  • High School degree with 8+ years of experience or Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of related work experience in training, program development/implementation, business and/or management

  • 5+ years of leading direct and indirect teams while organizing and managing resources in a lean manufacturing environment

  • Experience developing, implementing and managing training and development programs across multiple shifts and functions

  • Manufacturing Operations, Medical Device Manufacturing and Quality System Regulated environment experience preferred

Knowledge and skills:

  • Proven ability to work independently and manage projects, programs and teams across shifts and a distributed organization

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism

  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external partners

  • Ability to deliver results through influence without authority

  • Collaborates in a professional manner with a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels

  • Effectively handle multiple priorities to meet all objectives and deadlines

  • Highly organized, with good time management skills and acute attention to detail

  • Strong computer and MS Office skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project and Visio

  • Knowledge and experience in multi-faceted learning principles

Physical requirements/abilities:

  • Office environment as well as time on production/manufacturing floor

Other:

  • Travel to Sunnyvale and additional Cepheid sites as required, in relation to expansion and continuous improvement projects
