Danaher Corporation Manufacturing Engineer Manager in Lodi, California

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position will require the candidate to have a strong background of plastics processing of injection molding in the medical device manufacturing arena.

  • Familiar with Automation equipment.

  • Familiar with Vision Systems and Tight Tolerance Inspection.

  • Supports Production in reducing / eliminating equipment and tooling downtime or scrap, utilizing good analytical methodologies.

  • Manage Department Engineers, Technicians and associates to execute tool component replacements and repairs to sustain production.

  • Oversee mold maintenance and repair schedules to support On Time Delivery.

  • Ensure the department closely coordinates with tooling, production, quality and other members of the manufacturing group to assure compliance and maximize tool operational performance, quality and availability (OEE).

  • Utilize and allocates available resources, delegate tasks, assign priorities and lead team members

to ensure project success.

  • Lead the team to continually drive development and improvement of various manufacturing processes through a data driven methodology.

  • Ensures team completes tasks and provide information that supports manufacturing operations, such as performing historical data analysis, design of experiment, documentation, implementation and validation of equipment and process changes driven through the change control process.

  • Ensure proper feedback is provided to tooling and the tool component manufacturers with regard to quality concerns and expectation.

  • Supervise and / or review work orders for tool component modifications.

  • Supervise the creation and or revision of SOP’s, Work Instructions and Training; passed on to Departments impacted by changes made to the process.

  • Verification of effectiveness of proposed changes to processes and procedures are to be monitored and tracked of any improvements (Kaizen).

  • Oversee the monitoring of tool health and cavity status reports are updated and communicated to stakeholder departments.

  • Use of Problem-Solving Skills; Fishbone Diagram, 5 whys, etc.

  • Lead Kaizen activities and adapt a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Time Management of Projects.

  • Manage the team’s attendance records (ADP timekeeping).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determine staff requirements for Manufacturing Engineering Department

  • Develop job descriptions and requisitions for new personnel positions

  • Perform performance reviews and determine salary levels

  • Execute Employee disciplinary actions

TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time.

  • Responsible for ensuring team members are compliant and are up to date on required training.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education or Experience (in years):

  • High School degree with 8+ years of experience OR Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years or experience or Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in FDA regulated manufacturing environments

  • Experience working in an injection molding environment

  • Experience with precision measuring instruments (CMM, Projector, Calipers, Indicators)

  • Experience with IQ/OQ/PQ activities

  • Competent in GD&T, specifically in translating requirements into measurements and assessing results.

  • Experience with Mold Component design, repair and modifications.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Culture a Safe working environment.

  • Understand medical injection mold tool design, processing, manufacturing, testing, and qualification.

  • Knowledge of CAD software. (SolidWorks, Mitutoyo CMM Software, Inspec Metrology software)

  • Knowledge of computer or PLC based machine control systems is desirable

  • Ability to read and understand part drawings and specifications

  • Proficient in MiniTab or similar statistical software

  • Well versed with validation principles, quality system requirements and compliance issues

  • Knowledge on scientific injection molding principles

  • Familiar with the operation of Nissei Injection Machine.

  • Excellent understanding of Kaizen and lean manufacturing principles

  • Strong skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to learn new systems and tools quickly.

  • Good mechanical / technical skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Good organization and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work remotely.

  • Ability to identify and solve problems.

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Attention to details

  • Possess excellent leadership & teamwork abilities.

Physical requirements/abilities:

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Must be able to stand and coach several hours.
