The Manufacturing Support Engineer will be responsible for supporting manufacturing operations with engineering expertise to ensure successful transfer of new products from development to manufacturing, ensuring robust manufacturing processes at commercialization, doing failure investigation of commercialized products and supporting processes to ensure performance within expected parameters. This role will be part of Failure Investigation team that is focused on diagnosing and resolving issues that may arise due to internal or external customers or productions, customer complaints or development. We are looking for someone who is curious, observant, and is dedicated to continuous learning in a fast-paced environment by working independently and cross functionally. This role will get opportunity to develop expertise in risk and impact assessment, provide guidance to development and implementation teams on technical requirements and project direction by working on variety of projects for growth opportunities.

This position is part of the Failure Investigation team and will be located in Lodi CA, Onsite. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions. This position is regular day shift on weekdays. Associate may be expected to work split shift or weekends on few occasions if needed.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Determine impact of failures to different areas of the business and investigate failures through established root cause analysis techniques and methods, such as data analysis and physical inspection.

  • Analyze data to identify trends/areas of investigation and provide recommendations for investigation direction and/or countermeasures. On occasions, recommend and implement improvements to current workflows, procedures, and techniques.

  • Focus on diagnosing and resolving issues that may arise due to internal or external customers or productions, customer complaints or development.

  • Lead and coordinate medium to large scale investigations with guidance from senior associates and management.

  • Document progress during investigations and prepare final reports.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of engineering related discipline OR Master’s degree in field with 0-2 years of related work experience.

  • Basic statistics experience, including power levels, t-test, variance, and sampling plans.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (oral and written).

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience in PCR and design of experiments (DoE)

  • Experience working in a biology lab environment with clinical specimens and hands-on in the laboratory, including the use of hazardous chemicals and clinical specimens.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and/or within manufacturing operations under cGMP, ISO and FDA regulations.

The salary range for this role is $76,000 – $100,000 USD . This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
