Job Description:

This role is a supporting role to the Plastics Processing Manager on the Production Manufacturing Floor in the Plastics Processing Department. This role acts in the capacity of maintaining a structured work environment that benefits both the Plastics Processing / Mold Technicians and the Voice of the Customer. You will act as a liaison between the Plastics Processing Manager and other staff, ensuring that procedures are being followed, while also suggesting ideas for streamlining processes. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the smooth transition of Molds being removed and installed for production. Routine activities include maintaining and updating Processes, Procedures, Work Instructions, Worksheets for collected data and Workflow to maximize efficiencies. Attending VOC scheduling meetings and coordinating the labor resources to achieve the build plan demands meeting On Time Delivery expectations. Assisting the Plastic Processing Shift Leads, Process Techs, and Mold Set-Up Techs to understand the details of work orders, assuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and training assuring the tool will operate properly when moved to production and that plastic processing parameters are conforming to the Qualified Molding Conditions.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for maintaining an environment where Associates take individual responsibility for sustainable safety and quality in all aspects of their job.

  • Ensures compliance with QSR.

  • Energizes the Plastic Processing personnel to overcome barriers in achieving goals.

  • Coaches and develops Plastic Processing Team.

  • Assists in meeting production goals and metrics.

  • Responsible for ensuring GDP and Work Order records are in compliance.

  • Actively involved in scrap reduction initiatives and goals.

  • Coordinating and communicating with cross functional groups to resolve issues and keep production running with high Quality.

  • Investigates, evaluates, and resolves workplace issues affecting productivity and morale

  • Communicates the company vision and culture through words and actions, models company values.

  • Develops, evaluates and assists in the direction of improving processes for all production activities.

  • Assists in the development of strategies to accomplish the company vision.

  • Active champion of productivity improvement efforts to deliver future company goals.

  • Assists in driving plastic process improvement activities and provides technical leadership where appropriate.

  • Assists in running daily start of shift Daily Management Meetings to successfully drive Production requirements

  • Assists in the oversight of day to day operations in the Plastic Processing department as assigned.

TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES: (REQUIRED)

  • Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time.

  • Assisting the Plastics Process Team where needed to assure they attend and complete all required trainings satisfactorily and on time.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience (in years):

  • Must have a strong background in plastic Injection Molding.

  • High School Degree with 6 years of related work experience.

  • Leadership and Technical Support background 3 years or equivalent.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Knowledge of Scientific Molding (RJG, AIM, Routsis, etc.)

  • Possess the skills necessary to create and lead a culture of rapid change and model the behaviors that demonstrate commitment to the values vital to organizational development and growth.

  • Proven ability to deliver productivity to plan.

  • Willing to challenge traditional wisdom and advance innovative ways of resolving problems.

  • Leadership background. Self-Starter.

  • Demonstrated proficiency of manufacturing systems and requirements, including GMP/GDP practices.

  • Demonstrated abilities leading teams and promoting successful teamwork across disciplines.

  • Team-oriented, results and goal-oriented, capable of working independently, well organized, have excellent attention to detail, and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and in a timely manner.

  • Demonstrated abilities to schedule personnel and coordinate activities to meet production goals

Physical requirements/abilities:

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to stand for several hours. Work may involve repetitive arm/wrist motions.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Understanding of Quality Systems, including risk assessments.

  • Possess judgment regarding timely follow-up required to ensure completion of molds being assembled to quality levels.

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to troubleshoot, including root cause analysis.

  • Possess analytical approach to tasks, to ensure potential problems and errors are detected and resolved quickly and thoroughly.

  • Organization and Management skills

  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (ISO or GMP) medical device industry.

  • Experience working in a controlled environment / manufacturing; encompassing both manual and automated assembly processes including injection molding.

  • Experience in Kaizen / continuous improvement, 5S, PSPs, and DBS Tools.
