What you’ll do

  • The Automation Engineer leads and assists in the development of process automation for manufacturing equipment used in the production of sera and cell culture media, both liquid & dry powder.

  • The design, build, programming, installation, commissioning and validation of new control systems, along with maintaining and upgrading existing control systems.

  • Maintains and upgrades automation of the facility infrastructure - water systems, HVAC, steam, etc.

  • Develops process and workstation designs to reduce cycle time and support the lean manufacturing initiative. Ensures regulatory compliance through Qualification and Validation of systems.

  • Installs and maintains electrical control systems, motors, VFDs, valves and instrumentation.

Who you are

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related technical degree; or an Associates Degree and 3 years experience in production, engineering or troubleshooting of PC/server based systems; Minimum of 5 years of experience in automation/controls engineering

  • Programming skills: familiar with Ladder logic, Function Block, STL, Boolean logic and higher-level programming languages such as Visual Basic

  • Experience with PLC control systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.). Experience with automation networks: Device Net, Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet IP

  • Familiar with NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, and OSHA safety requirements

  • Experience with Electric Motor Control/Drive Configuration; Familiar with LAN networking, switches, data cabling, and topology

  • Demonstrated troubleshooting, analytical and project management / planning skills

  • Demonstrated strong communication skills (written and verbal)
