What you’ll do
The Scientist, Cell Culture will serve as a lead for assigned Cell Culture Service projects. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with the cell culture media development services team to ensure successful customer project outcomes. This individual will execute on applications studies to support the service offering.
The Scientist will:
Lead execution of media/process development service projects:
Independently design experimental plans
Participate in study execution and perform cell culture laboratory work
Analyze experimental data
Present study results internally and externally
Draft interim and final project reports
Stays current on changes, innovations, and trends in statistics, medicine, through networking, studying and contributing to publications and/or presentations.
Independently identify problems and formulate solutions to complex and ambiguous technical problems
Gather and share customer feedback proactively on results, processes, and documentation
Respond to customer needs in a timely and accurate manner
Take ownership for results and compliance of assigned projects
Identify and bring up project risks (critical path items, technical issues, etc.)
Seeks to understand business strategy to drive sound decisions and actions in support of assigned projects
Proactively share own experience and standard methodologies with team members. Provide timely feedback to others
Contribute to scientific publications and/or conference presentations
Who you are
Required: MS in Life Sciences or related field with >2 years of experience or PhD with 0-2 years of experience in cell line development, cell culture process development and/or manufacturing within a pharmaceutical/biotechnology company. Direct experience in cell culture and knowledge of upstream bioprocessing. Proficiency in core cell culture techniques. Design of Experiments (DoE) experience and proven skills in statistical design and analysis. Strong scientific writing skills and ability to communicate in a professional/eloquent manner. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Proven time management skills.
Desired: PhD in Life Sciences, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 0-2 years of industry cell culture experience. Knowledge of cGMP cell culture media manufacturing. Ability to translate customer needs into technical solutions. Diverse hands-on experience in multiple cell lines and bioreactor systems highly desirable. Strong time management and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills (writing, articulating, listening, questioning). Ability to contribute in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task. Proven problem solving ability. Proven ability to work in a collaborative, matrixed, and customer focused environment!
