What you’ll do

The Senior DBS Leader is a facilitative leader accountable for process improvements yielding bottom-line productivity and improved delivery for the assigned plant. The position oversees lean six sigma transformation within the plant, including deployment strategy, planning, training, coaching, project management, and tool development while managing all activities associated with the design, implementation and sustainment of lean production and management systems. Will focus on Hoshin Kanri (Policy Deployment) development, kaizen funnel and execution, and cultural transformations of site. Will coach and develop operations teams in problem solving and continuous improvement tools and techniques. Will be a highly effective leader with understanding of the basics of lean manufacturing, overall operations management, and capable of driving large plant transformations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall Lean leadership and simplification to key areas of the supply chain.

  • Will own site Kaizen funnel process, valuestream maps, and support site Hoshin Kanri

  • Will be responsible for strategy development of site DBS transformation

  • Facilitate shop floor kaizen events, production preparation projects, and distribution kaizen activities to achieve future state objectives.

  • Work with the operating leaders to develop strategic deployment planning as well as specific goals and priorities that drive lean principles and concept across the business.

  • Serve as a change agent by influencing, communicating, and institutionalizing a culture of simplification and standardization.

  • Coach DBS team and plant leadership in the use of Lean tools and the simplification methodology to drive significant business impact.

  • Conduct regular value stream reviews with Lean Manufacturing Leaders to assure the team drives significant measurable business impact.

Quality Specific Goals:

  • Aware of and comply with the Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position.

  • Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within defined deadlines.

  • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required.

  • Drive continuous improvement on all related processes, work instructions, and procedures to ensure ongoing standardization and simplification of the Quality Management System.

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any Engineering Discipline (Mechanical, Science, technology, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering) or Business degree and 10 years of related manufacturing related experience.

  • Experience coordinating / leading cross-functional teams with executive level visibility

  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams of direct reports in mfg. environment

  • Facilitates change and supports the deployment, adoption and sustainment of Lean thinking and a Lean-based Management System within assigned plant

  • Teaches and coaches Lean leadership principles and behaviors including servant leadership, problem solving, and daily management routines including the use of visual management.

Desired Manufacturing Experience and Characteristics

  • 5-10 years of Senior Level Operations Management

  • Previous Lean or DBS experience

  • Experience as People Leader in Cell Culture Business within manufacturing & supply chain

  • Change agent with strong credibility and influence in the organization

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others and achieve results

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Demonstrated ability to stay current with latest technology trends, and understand impact of new technologies in a business environment
