Position Summary

The Director Global Project Sales is a key strategic position within the Global Sales and Service team. This role works closely with the VP of Global Sales and Service to influence and execute our strategy to identify, and successfully position OTT HydroMet to win the most attractive hydrology and meteorology projects across our six global regions.

This includes identification of market drivers/trends, relationship development with key stakeholders from global development agencies (USAID, GIZ, UNDP, FAO, WMO, GCF, World Bank, etc) and engagement with regional sales teams to execute strategies/tactics to position OTT Hydromet Solutions to win in this space. The role also works across the organization with Regional Leadership to align corporate strategy with regional initiatives to ensure profitable sales growth through installed base share gain, competitive account acquisition, and new solution introduction across the Hydromet project market.

This position is responsible for directly leading a team of Business Development Managers who identify and influence project tender development, develop winning commercial responses to project tenders, and develop and support direct and indirect sales channels globally.

This role will collaborate with Regional Sales/Service, Project Delivery, Marketing, and R&D leadership to create alignment around solutions and delivery capability required to meet customer needs. A successful Director of Global Projects Sales is customer focused, strategic, action oriented, agile, and leads directly and across regional/organizational boundaries to deliver results.

Commercial Leadership & Execution

  • Responsible for influencing strategy development and driving sales growth for OTT HydroMet’s Global Project Business.

  • Provide vision and guidance to the organization by building relationships with executive stakeholders at key customers, development agencies and channel partners, to identify high value customer problems to be solved and aligning them with current and potential OTT HydroMet solutions.

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to create an annual Commercial Plan with specific tactics to deliver annual growth objectives, and build long term project funnel, while demonstrating the agility and acumen to quickly change direction if necessary to address new opportunities or threats

  • Lead Funnel Management and Early Stage Engagement activity for Projects with Regional Sales teams; manage the monthly reporting process, tracking, analyzing and reporting measurements such as funnel additions/progression, orders, and revenue progress to goal

  • Collaborate with Regional Sales leaders to align on specific needs to implement growth strategies and adapt when needed

  • Develop talent within our diverse team and assist with identifying and preparing a successor

Education, Background and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Business or Engineering; advanced degree in Marketing or MBA a plus

  • Minimum 8 years prior commercial experience working with government hydrology/meteorology agencies or global funding/development agencies; experience in organization that serves similar customers or sells similar products is a strong plus

  • Results oriented with proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); takes ownership and is accountable.

  • Inclusive leadership of global teams, attracting top talent, motivating discretionary effort, developing high performers and holding people accountable

  • Strong process leadership and record of implementing initiatives across global teams

  • Communicate effectively across functions using a collaborative style that engages a diverse team from multiple cultures and backgrounds

  • Positive team player with a “we will win” attitude

  • Excellent analytical skills and solid business acumen with ability to balance the needs of the market place with sound business judgment

  • Focuses on essential few priorities and executes these exceptionally well

  • Able to travel up to 50%
