This is a hybrid position that will include time onsite as well as remote. Candidates should be in a commutable distance to one of our sites in either Sterling, VA or Loveland, CO. Onsite work will be frequent as it will be critical in building partnership with operations leaders.
We are currently seeking a Cost Accountant who is ready to be a hard-working team player in a rapidly growing company. This role collaborates with other accountants and financial staff in the company to provide financial and accounting support to executives and department heads who establish goals and budgets for the organization. Some of the critical few this role will help with are direct lab and overhead challenges.
Responsibilities:
Follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
Collecting and analyzing data about a company’s operational costs
Develop and maintain company accounting procedures and processes
Setting standard costs of manufactured goods
Developing and analyzing cost standards
Oversee manufacturing BOMs and routings
Maintain accurate records and update existing and new purchased materials and goods
Review costs for all external inventory, labor, and material purchases
Carrying out cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis, including for small businesses
Partner with inventory/operations team on physical inventory count, E&O analysis, disposal of inventory, etc.
Establishing costs of business processes such as administration, labor, shipping, etc.
Validate revenue and cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close
Compile documentation on standard costs and company production costs
Performing account reconciliations
Analyze, prepare, and record inventory judgmental reserves
Performing journal entries and accruals
Managing the companies fixed assets
Recommending changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit
Advising executives and upper management on appropriate costing based on financial data
Managing the company’s balance sheet and accounting books
Supporting other company accountants with invoicing and capital expenditure
Work across teams to present and translate important financial information
Assist in audits and general ledger preparation
Assist Controller with preparation of financial reporting and ad hoc analysis
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business
CPA or CMA highly preferred
Manufacturing environment experience required
2-3 years of previous accounting experience
Experience with ERP (We use BAAN)
Experience with consignment inventory
Ability to travel to plant site a minimum of 2 times per quarter
Colorado Only: The salary range for this role is $80k to $105k. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado.
This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
