Danaher Corporation Project Program Manager - Core Team Lead in Loveland, Colorado

Beckman Coulter’s Biotechnology business is growing and needs a skilled program manager as part of our team to develop and deliver new products. You will take ownership for projects which includes exercising responsibility for all aspects of project execution, working across organizational boundaries and also providing leadership to the extended team.

Prepare to roll up your sleeves and get busy working with your team on the next generation of Bioanalytic instrumentation for disease research and drug development. Stimulating challenges lie ahead for our group and there is a robust pipeline of projects waiting for solutions. We need people who will help define and aim to a new standard of excellence in innovation, reliability, performance, and usability in laboratory research devices. Leading teams in managing complex multi-disciplinary projects will be a focus of this role. Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in global development efforts

  • Challenge status quo whilst supporting a world class product development life cycle

  • Accountability for the entire project from definition through design, manufacturing and commercialization.

  • Understand customer needs and to partner with the Business Unit appropriately towards meeting all customer’s needs.

  • Work with partners to remove road blocks.

  • Challenge processes and find a better way to do things with focuses on results.

  • Understand competition and market segment.

  • Represent leadership proposals and strategic decisions appropriately to the core team, as well as challenge inputs where appropriate.

  • Make trade off decisions.

  • Communicate all types of information to the project team, management and all project partners, and communicate difficult information effectively to leadership.

  • Be strong in key Danaher Business System (DBS) fundamentals and innovation growth tools, use all Visual Project Management artifacts effectively to manage the team, and to create and use metrics to indicate project status, demonstrate clearly countermeasures and identify quickly when a Problem Solving Process (PSP) is needed.

  • Maintain full control of project timelines, resources, and the project direct and capital budgets.

  • Understand the fundamentals of business finance (revenue, cost, margin, overhead, etc...).

  • Generate any required project plans, to have an extensive understanding of the Master Schedule and each team member’s swim-lanes to the extent that impacts are understood immediately and counter-measured as needed, and has an extensive understanding of the product development process and IDP.

  • Manage cross-functional and cross-site teams, have a broad understanding of all functions involved, address issues and needs of all functional team members and not be overly focused on a single swim-lane, and is able to use the team to close gaps.

  • Forecast buffer burn based on leading indicators, determine project health by reviewing KPIs, drive team to anticipate and prevent risks, and is able to implement effective counter-measures.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field with 9+ years of experience

  • MS with 7+ years of experience

  • 6+ years of experience managing complex multifunctional projects

  • Experience working in a regulated environment

  • Exceptional problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills

  • A no-compromise attitude to achieving breakthrough targets

  • Outstanding, interpersonal skills, negotiating skills, and conflict resolution & facilitation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional

  • Ability to find and share tools that optimize your work

  • Lean Six Sigma Training

  • Experience with Agile Management

  • Biopharma or drug discovery experience

  • Advanced technical degrees

  • Advanced business degrees
