The Director Manufacturing directs and controls all manufacturing operations for significant product lines within one of more Beckman Coulter (BC) Diagnostic business portfolio. The incumbent oversees manufacturing operations for the product lines within instruments or Reagents; supports new product development by prioritizing and allocating resources; oversees technology development in accordance with company strategies; facilitates the transfer of manufacturing methods and/or technologies within Beckman Coulter and/or to external business partners; develops and maintains strong collaborative partnerships with leading experts, other companies, joint ventures, and OEMs; and ensures all FDA, ISO and related regulatory requirements are consistently met.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs and controls Manufacturing operations with 100+ associates in Munich and Prague (Supply Chain, Manufacturing and logistics for Instruments and Parts) to achieve operational strategy.

  • Creates a regularly refreshed vision and action plan for improved implementation that accelerates the continuous improvement.

  • Collaborates with commercial, quality, and development teams to build long-term growth models and forecasts staffing requirements across multiple departments.

  • Oversees relationships with all manufacturing related input and support functions and works with other Director and VP level managers to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement of cross functional teams (e.g. QA, Regulatory, RnD, Product Management, etc.)

  • Develops resourcing strategies, allocates budgets and resources, staff, tools, and specialized support necessary for cost-effective operations and new product development support.

  • Successfully manages dotted line relationships and reporting to Munich VP as well as Workflow Instrumentation and Software Business Unit as the operations liaison for problem solving and support of strategic initiatives

  • Management of company via a line and project culture through goal setting and control.

  • Ensure a Quality Management System operates as required by FDA, Health Canada, ISO13485 and Customer Audits as well as achieving World Class Manufacturing, Total Quality Management or other systems of Total Customer satisfaction

Education & Experience:

  • Relevant Scientific / Engineering / Business degree (bachelor’s degree)

  • Professional experience: 10 to 20 years’ experience in R&D, Manufacturing and/or Company Management in industry (assembly, automotive, medical devices, equipment manufacturing, process manufacturing)

  • Experienced with people management (leading, motivating, challenging, influencing) in change management and fast growing business of a minimum of six years and >50 people.

  • Experienced with quality management, environmental and health and safety compliance

  • Multicultural skills experienced with in international environment with different cultures and mentalities

  • Language skills: Excellent written and verbal English skills in addition German preferred.
