Danaher Corporation Quality Control Senior Scientist, Protein in Madison, Wisconsin
Quality Control (QC) Senior Scientist, Protein, supports production of recombinant proteins at Aldevron’s Madison, WI facility. This role is primarily responsible for ensuring and/or performing release testing of products so that quality specifications are met or exceeded. Additionally, the QC Senior Scientist supports the management and execution of initiatives for expansion and growth that may include on boarding of quality management and business tools. The Senior Scientist will also provide technical support to our internal teams and our clients as a subject matter expert as needed. Duties may also include support/lead for development activities, technology transfer and other quality related functions as assigned. Previous experience or a want to supervise a small group of high-performing scientists is an absolute plus.
Serve as a scientific lead on projects, train and supervise other support staff as needed
Behaves as a technical resource
Provide technical support for client projects
Work as a team member or as an individual contributor to projects in-development and manufacture that typically involve a multidisciplinary approach that includes scientists from different departments
Assists in the management and implementation of Quality, ISO 13485 programs (knowledge of QC laboratory test procedures, cGMP requirements, ICH guidelines a plus)
Proactively investigate, troubleshoot and improve existing processes to maintain or improve quality scientific results and implement new technologies
Accurately record experimental results in real-time; store/save and report data per Aldevron conventions
Use, maintain, and train others on analytical equipment routinely used to characterize recombinant proteins, including:
Reverse Phase HPLC
Analytical Size Exclusion Chromatography
SDS-PAGE and Western Blot
UV/Vis and Fluorescence Spectroscopy (cuvette and multi-well plate)
Endotoxin Detection Assays
Assist in qualification of test methods, writing and review of documents, internal process reviews, and basic equipment maintenance
Contribute to the identification, evaluation and implementation of new laboratory QC equipment and methods
Be responsible for helping with technical transfer of assays as assigned
Adhere to all Company environmental health and safety procedures
Perform other duties as assigned

This position will oversee 2-3 QC Scientists/Associate Scientists.
Education & Experience
B.S. or A.S. in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry or related field with at least 9 years of relevant work experience or
M.S. and at least 5 years of relevant work experience or
Ph.D and at least 2 years of relevant work experience
Previous experience in a Quality Control laboratory is preferred
Previous experience in managing people is preferred

Strong computer skills (both Microsoft and Apple systems) and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite, Chromeleon, etc.

Be flexible and willing to work in a fast-paced environment that at times requires shifting priorities
Ability to learn new methods and systems
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to maintain accurate documentation

Ability to speak and write fluently in English
This position works in a Research Grade lab setting and may come in contact with various solutions and chemicals. This position uses standard laboratory equipment such as pipettes, centrifuges, glass ware, and computers.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and use arms, hands and fingers for various activities. This position may stand or remain sedentary for long periods of time. This position routinely works with large pieces of equipment.
