What you'll do

Work with our Cytiva Life Cycle Engineering team in Westborough, MA! As an Engineering co-op you’ll focus on engineering execution, which requires building relationships across functions and maintaining open communications. You’ll work with R&D team members daily on a variety of Product Care and sustaining engineering efforts. You will support our upstream portfolio of Single Use Mixers & Bioreactors, Ready-To-Process products, consumables, and Hollow-Fiber filtration products.

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Hands-on building of prototypes and testing of Single-Use consumable products for Design Verification and Validation

  • Identifying and qualifying alternate OEM components and materials for dual-sourcing

  • Create and update component drawings, purchase specifications and assembly designs using SolidWorks

  • Develop and install of equipment and fixtures to facilitate lab and manufacturing floor testing

  • Work with project team to design and execute experiments in order to study the effects of variables

  • Compile test data and build test reports and analysis

  • Work on a collaborative team developing test and characterization methods using any number of analytical methods including but not limited to moisture analysis, zeta potential and porometry

  • Work on product formulation and manufacturing process for improved product design and consistent process performance

  • Work in the lab testing and characterizing new products & assisting with verification & validation test efforts

  • Review results with domain experts to determine follow on work

Who you are:

  • Active Engineering Student in either; BioEngineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Plastics Engineering.

  • Ability to create parts, assemblies, and detailed drawings in SolidWorks (or similar CAD systems)

  • Understanding of tolerance stack up, and designing for manufacturability

  • Ability to organize and execute multiple varying tasks with attention to detail

  • Reliable, accurate and timely communication of deliverables

  • Preferred familiarity with good documentation practices

  • Knowledge of injection molding, plastics and metals, consumable products, equipment/hardware, and automation equipment

  • Knowledge with plastic part design and mold concepts

  • Hands-on mechanical abilities with tools and machine shop equipment

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in lab/test environment

  • Experience of bioprocess workflows

  • Knowledge of injection molding, plastics and metals, consumable products, equipment/hardware, and automation equipment

  • Knowledge with part mold concepts

  • Hands-on mechanical abilities with tools and machine shop equipment
