Key Responsibilities:

Outsourcing single use systems

  • Owner of drawings and revisions outsourced to 3rd party contractors;

  • Manage, maintain and develop outsourcing processes and maintain alignment on documentation/part setup;

  • Due to the global nature of the role, you may implement projects in locations other than the resident location.

New Component Introduction

  • Perform risk analysis on new externally procured components and initiate corresponding risk reduction measures and liaise with Product Engineering in case validation tests are required before component approval;

  • Liaise with suppliers and external contractors regarding specifications of components, materials and equipment;

  • Create component images for use in 2D and 3D CAD software;

  • Initiate approve and monitor progress of joint tests to qualify component-to-component connections for further use in single use systems;

  • Investigate and advise on correct component material status (restricted, non-preferred, preferred) when multiple components perform the same function;

  • Review and design simple chamber customization requests (existing volume, technology, fitments);

  • Review and design complex chamber customization requests.

New Product Introduction (NPI) & Customer Specific Single Use Systems

  • Timely creation, development and release of sales & marketing, and manufacturing drawings for new Pall proprietary product introductions e.g. bio containers, mixers, bioreactors, standard systems;

  • Develop new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the design engineering teams and organize corresponding training to support successful NPI;

  • Liaise with sales -and where necessary with customers directly- to review, improve and release customer and manufacturing drawings for customer specific single use systems;

  • Apply “Design For Manufacturing” & Assembly guidelines, and Preferred Component Strategy, when reviewing manufacturability of new single use systems and NPI.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Create, maintain and improve Design Engineering SOPs for complex and/or global processes;

  • Align engineering practices between 5 manufacturing sites (Pall Medistad, Pall Hoegaarden, Pall Fajardo, Pall Being, Pall Duncan);

  • Serve as a troubleshooter for the manufacturing team during production of single use systems;

  • Support and coordinate local MOC, support global IPCO + CN, coordinate straightforward global IPCO + CN;

  • Liaise with the manufacturing team to improve First Time Right of production documentation (SAP, PDS, Drawing, Label) and reduce operator assembly error risks;

  • Propose improvements to in-house 2D & 3D drawing software and documentation software. Where necessary write a URS and support and/or coordinate the software development, testing, and validation;

  • Apply Danaher Problem Solving Process and use A3 actions plans to resolve critical or reoccurring engineering issues and improve KPIs;

  • Support and/or coordinate investigations to resolve customer complaints and complete corrective and preventive actions.


  • You are cross functional available to lead projects at global level and considered as a subject matter expert at strategic level;

  • The projects you lead have impact on the own team, but also on other related teams in the organization;

  • You are aware of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market. You use this knowledge as an input to your projects.

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or equivalent;

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in engineering;

  • Fluent in spoken and written English;

  • Knowledge of process validation procedures and techniques, e.g. Process and product FMEA and process capability studies;

  • Able to write validation (IQ, OQ and PQ) documents for new products, processes and equipment;

  • Advanced knowledge of plastic processing, e.g. seal technologies, injection molding, etc.;

  • Additional experience within a manufacturing environment would be a valuable asset;

  • Experience with CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor/Solidworks;

  • Experience with Product Data Management software, preferably Autodesk Vault/EPDM;

  • Competent with Microsoft Office applications. Knowledgeable in Excel is preferable;

  • Knowledge of SAP is an advantage.


  • Good verbal and written communication skills required;

  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, both in person and remotely required;

  • Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus;

  • Excellent analytical skills.

Functional knowledge

  • You have a conceptual and practical expertise in all Product Engineering disciplines including in-depth knowledge and technical experience of production, equipment and processes. Furthermore you have a basic knowledge of related disciplines like R&D, Operations and Quality.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously and maintains a helicopter view;

  • Travel to other sites on need basis (estimation 20% - 30%);

  • Uses sound and robust analyses when needed to understand risks and determine a course of actions but is not paralyzed by analysis;

  • Requires in-depth knowledge and experience.
