The Advanced R&D Technician for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for the construction, debugging and maintenance of prototype laboratory instrumentation as well as supporting the team by running and documenting experiments results .

This position is part of the Hematology and Urinalysis Business Unit located in Miami, FL and will be an Onsite role . At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

You will be a part of the Research & Innovation team and report to the Senior Director of Research & Innovation. You’ll be the involved in multidiscipline efforts including electronics, mechanical, fluidics, biology and chemistry. You will contribute with ideas to enhance designs and concepts and will be on a continuous learning path. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with cutting edge science and technology and help the team in the execution of creative ideas

  • Contribute to de-risking new technologies/ideas by constructing, testing and maintaining breadboards and experimental test platforms

  • Work closely with a multidisciplined research and innovation team in executing experiments and documenting results

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Associate degree (AA) in mechanical/electrical engineering or closely related field with 5 years of experience in constructing and debugging electro-mechanical and fluidic systems and subsystems, preferably in a medical device/diagnostics

  • Experience using laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters

  • Demonstrated experience with soldering (SMT and discrete), wiring (harness, crimping), and fluidic assembly (valve installation, tubing termination/connectors)

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Programming skills (scripting, LabVIEW, C/C++/C#)
