The Beckman Coulter Life Science R&D PMO mission is to introduce and maintain a consistent approach to managing projects. We do this by ensuring adherence to standard work and best practices for project management across all global development sites. We provide guidance on what innovation tools can and should be utilized to drive the Danaher Business System (DBS) culture. As a PMO, we help train and coach team leaders , project managers and project teams to drive continuous improvement through the use of or DBS Innovation Tools.


Position Summary:

Be a part of the Beckman Coulter R&D PMO where your Project Management experience will help us to drive continuous improvement across all our global development sites as well as to continue to drive consistency and rigor around our teams’ use of our Visual Project Management tools . You will do this by helping to create new or enhance existing standard work as well as to facilitate deployment and training to all our project leaders worldwide either as part of our Global Project Management Leadership Council or in smaller teams or on your own. You will be one of our subject matter experts helping to build strong facilitators globally to support our projects as well as to manage the global Kaizen calendar and certification funnel. Lastly you will be tasked with establishing a global cross site BEC LS R&D Project Management Community to enable our Project Leaders to have the most current information, share best practices, successes, and challenges.

Travel will be expected (global conditions permitting). This position will be a remote / hybrid position reporting to the Senior Manager of the PMO based in Florida USA. On-site activity will be expected as needed based on immersion and specific activities .

To be eligible for this role, you have demonstrated experience in Project Management with these primary duties :

  • Coordinating successful completion of development projects on time, with high quality and on budget.

  • Project manager for cross-functional teams and complex activities that may span functions, organizations, geographic regions and cultures, and by utilizing the expertise of all required disciplines.

  • Gains a broad understanding of all functions involved, addresses issues and needs of all functional team members and leverages the team to close gaps.

  • Develops project plans, identifies dependencies, creates and assesses time and budget estimates, analyzes critical path, analyzes risks and constraints, and identifies resource requirements.

  • Has an extensive understanding of the Master Schedule and each team member’s deliverables to the extent that impacts are understood immediately and counter-measured as needed, and has an extensive understanding of the product development process and design controls.

  • Identifies and manages project issues, risks and schedule conflicts and applies problem solving methodologies with the team as needed.

  • Maintains full control of project timelines, resources, and budgets.

  • Uses technical experience to support and interact with scientists, engineers and marketing to support product definition, project scope, risk management and design control activities.

  • Develops effective relationships, builds credibility, establishes rapport and maintains communication with stakeholders at multiple levels, including those external to the organization. Fosters teamwork, respect, and a healthy rapport with all co-workers.

  • Communicates all types of information to the project team, management and all project stakeholders, and to communicate difficult information effectively to leadership.

  • Ensures team members are aligned and appropriately supported and trained in standard project management, project risk, risk impact and risk mitigation processes.

  • Adheres to all policies and procedures.


  • Must have demonstrated project management experience in a stage-gate product development program, and experience managing a complex work environment (cross-functional teams, multiple sites, multiple products, etc.)

  • Proven ability to establish and manage high-performing teams to achieve results.

  • Clear understanding of complex project plans.

  • Excellent time management, presentation, communication and meeting facilitation skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects, meet demanding deadlines and adjust to sudden changes in workflow, and apply strong problem-solving skills .

  • Strong leader with strong sense of responsibility, is tenacious and a self-starter.

  • Strong interpersonal, negotiating and conflict resolution skills.

  • Technical background, experience in life sciences company preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in field with 14+ years exp. OR Master’s degree in field with 12+ years exp.

  • Advanced degree in Science or Technology, but not required.

  • Project Management Professional Certification from the Project Management Institute, preferred but not required.

  • Ten years of experience developing and managing project schedules and teams preferred.
