You will be a part of the Research & Innovation team and report to the Senior Director of Research & Innovation and be responsible for all technical aspects of design and development of new instrument test platforms (hardware, software and reagents). You’ll be the technical lead for the Research & Innovation team and focus on identifying/developing new technologies for future generation hematology analyzers with areas of focus being imaging technology, (micro)fluidics, instrument design, user interface/experience, reagent integration, and artificial intelligence & machine learning. Senior Staff Technologist. In this role, you will have the following opportunities, but are not limited to:
Drive cutting edge technology, creative solutions, and first-class development agility and speed through a hands-on and can-do attitude, and strategic alignment and collaboration internally and externally
Contribute to the overall system architecture and technology roadmap for the development of new platforms
Translate customers and market needs into technological criteria, product features, and performance attributes
Work closely with other technical teams within and across business units in Beckman Coulter Dx as well as across other Danaher Opcos
Interact regularly with external partners and customers to identify opportunities
Strategically define, and execute on, elements related to technology selection and integration, component design and fabrication techniques
The essential requirements of the job include:
Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Systems Engineering
15 years of experience in analytical instrument development, preferably in a medical device/diagnostics or other regulated environment
Deep knowledge of core instrument technologies related to sample preparation, detection and data-analysis
Demonstrated strong technical leadership and communication skills: curiosity, critical thinking, motivated, motivator, influencer, customer focused, accountable, and result driven
Experienced in technology assessment, selection, integration, and platform design/architecture
Ability to located near Brea, CA; Carlsbad, CA; Chaska, MN or Miami, FL in order to access labs weekly if needed
It would be a plus if you also possess:
(Micro)fluidics and imaging system design experience
