The Role

The DBS Leader is responsible for promoting and leading the successful implementation of the Danaher Business System within Leica Biosystems. They will be a key business partner who is results driven with a strong and proven ability to drive effective use of DBS tools.

The position of Danaher Business System Leader, Innovation reports to the Global Director DBS Innovation with the primary responsibility to enable growth by building the Innovation Engine based on strong fundamentals. The role functions as the leader within a cross-functional space bearing responsibility for driving improvement in business objectives and innovation KPIs. They will utilize the Problem Solving Process to identify gaps in process, talent, and environment, and develop strategies to close the gaps while sustaining any countermeasures implemented. The role also supports DBS Fundamentals and acts as the primary contact for all DBS related activities on site.

Your key responsibilities will include, and not limited to:

  • Drive growth by building the Innovation Engine and applying DBS Innovation tools to enhance agile product development processes.

  • Manage Kaizen Funnel and Certified Trainer/Practitioner Process

  • Manage and drive the site´s Kaizen Funnel identifying and prioritizing opportunities with business leadership.

  • Prepare, facilitate and sustain Kaizen events and results.

  • Coach, develop, and challenge facilitators, team leaders, and leadership to ensure that Kaizen objectives are achieved.

  • Develop Certified Trainer/Practitioner funnel for site and provide support, mentoring, and opportunity to candidates.

  • Oversee Deployment of Innovation DBS Tools.

  • Increase DBS capability through thoughtful deployment and sustainment of Innovation Playbook elements.

  • Benchmark with other DBSLs, sites, and OpCos to identify improvement opportunities and incorporate them into Business Unit best practices.

  • Support Policy Deployment initiatives in partnership with Business Unit leadership.

  • Drive DBS Fundamentals and Lean into the organization.

  • Ensure DBS Fundamentals and Lean tools are being utilized intentionally and beneficially, by providing routine coaching, mentoring, and support.

  • Lead DBS-related events and trainings within site, as well as across the Business Unit.

  • Provide hands-on mentoring by attending Daily Management, Kaizen report outs and other key project events.

To be successful in this opportunity, a prior experience in the following criteria would be required:

Hands-on and detail-oriented but also able to see the big picture. Thinks strategically and views the business from a general management standpoint. Is very customer focused and possesses strong interpersonal and communications skills. Rapidly adapts to Danaher’s culture and gains the confidence of the Danaher organization.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ideally Systems Engineering), or a related field with leadership and/or practitioner experience in agile Product Development or Continuous Improvement.

  • Proven ability to consistently deliver business results.

  • Ability to work with various functions on the implementation of the DBS roadmap and implement key Innovation initiatives; successfully drives change, handles conflict / ambiguity.

  • Experience in agile product development for hardware and software, Value Analysis/Value Engineering and improving product reliability

  • Mastery of fundamental DBS and related Continuous Improvement tools for product development (such as Design Thinking, Lean Product Development or Scrum)

  • Superior skills in communications, training / adult learning, influencing; teamwork across disciplines, regions, and cultures

  • Demonstrated proficiency in time management and action plan development & execution

Highly Desirable capabilities:

  • Hands-on experience in various DBS Fundamentals (Problem Solving, Daily Management, Standard Work, etc.), Lean and Innovation tools (Visual Project Management, Danaher Software System or related such as Scrum Master certification, VAVE, Danaher Reliability System)

  • Experience managing projects (project management certification beneficial) and/or people

  • Exposure to and participation in a wide variety of training and facilitation environments

Travel %:

  • International travel ability is mandatory, expectations for this role are 20% for initial 3 months then <20%. Will include support for other Leica Biosystem´s site.

  • This role is based at the following LBS site: Melbourne (Australia)
