The Role:

Develops methods for the production and testing of new products. Includes laboratory roles.

Your key responsibilities will include, and not limited to:

  • Lead a small team of scientists in their daily activities by.

  • Coordinate key activities within the science team,

  • Communicate risks to committed milestones and liaise with PMO to determine business priorities.

  • Communicate project progress and issues/risks to manager.

  • Assist in the maintenance of laboratory facilities, equipment and consumables.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures at Leica Biosystems.

  • Support production where required.

  • Compliance to international quality standards.

  • Achieve best practise safety performance levels.

  • Planning and execution of experiments and analysis or interpretation of the results following GLP.

  • Ensure test plans and reports are written, signed off and approved for all phases of development.

  • Provide scientific technical knowledge to LBS programs.

  • Mentor and train Scientific staff.

To be successful in this opportunity, a prior experience in the following criteria would be required:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant science discipline, eg. biochemistry, biology, chemistry.

  • The ability to work effectively towards deadlines.

  • A positive attitude along with the desire to learn and develop.

  • The ability to communicate scientific ideas and concepts to audiences with and without technical knowledge.

  • Problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills.

Highly Desirable:

  • Immunohistochemistry and/or immunoassay techniques

  • Microtomy

  • Clinical histology

  • Experience in working in a GLP/GMP or NATA accredited environment

  • Experience in a research or development environment
