About Leica Biosystems

Leica Biosystems is a Danaher company and is a global leader in workflow solutions and automation for anatomical pathology (histology) to aid cancer diagnosis.

The Role

Lead a team of Verification and Validation Test Engineers to Verify and Validate Products, Systems and Hardware functionality, to ensure the device under test satisfies its System and Component Level Requirements.

Responsible for the full test life cycle of Requirements analysis, Test Case Reviews and approvals, Test Tools / Equipment / Documentation, Defect Capture and Analysis and Reporting throughout.

Your key responsibilities will include, and not limited to:

  • Review of Functional and Non Functional Requirements

  • Sign-off, Author and Review of Test Cases and Procedures

  • Author Test Plans and Test Reports for medium to large projects

  • Define and provide input into a project test strategy and approach

  • Execution of Test Cases / Procedures / Test Coverage and sign-off of result

  • Provide estimates and manage schedules for project related verification and validation activities

  • Mentor Test teams in their responsibilities and track against KPI’s

  • Manage Test Environments

  • Review Defects and Manage allocation of defect verification

  • Lead teams of 3-8 testers in verification activities

  • Provide domain support consultancy to other business units within the LBS group

  • Being motivated, proactive and self-guided in solving problems and conscious of importance of achieving agreed deliverable dates with opportunity to develop the team role in a continuous improvement environment

  • To be a source of technical expertise and knowledge of Testing Methodologies and Test Equipment (Automated and Manual)

  • Manage and resolve issues in a timely and cross-functional manner, work with other teams to efficiently solve problems with clear visibility

  • Works well in a team, communicates clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing

  • Write and Review V&V Documentation

  • Verification of Prototype and final designs within time, cost and quality constraints

  • Follow relevant quality procedures in order to deliver quality products and services and identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement.

  • Contribute ideas on systems and process methods to improve deliverables

  • Work safely, complying with all safety procedures, rules and instructions; and reporting workplace hazards, incidents or injuries to manager

To be successful in this opportunity, a prior experience in the following criteria would be required:

  • Graduate or post-graduate qualifications in engineering (Mechanical / Mechatronic) alternatively, equivalent experience in related field.

  • A Minimum of 8+ years’ experience as a Hardware and System test lead of a product within an R&D environment.

  • Experience in the application of test processes and methods.

  • Experience in two or more of the following:

  • Mechatronic / Robotic Hardware Test and/or Design processes / methods

  • Fluidic Hardware Test and/or Design processes / methods

  • Mechanical Component / System Test and/or Design processes / methods

  • Control Systems Test and/or Design processes / methods

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to write clear and concise technical documents

  • Experience with the following technologies:

  • Experience in use of HP Quality Centre

  • MS Windows OS environment.

  • Experience in mechanical and electrical design CAD Tools (ProE, Altium)

  • Management of defects and change using systems such as JIRA.

  • Experience in application of test process through a hardware and software development life cycle.

  • Excellent self-management skills

  • Excellent Stake-holder management skills

  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Highly Desirable capabilities:

  • Experience in a highly regulated industry e.g. medical, defence shall be highly regarded

  • Understanding and execution of System Engineering Principles

  • Experience using commercial test equipment e.g. National Instruments, Agilent
