Head- Policy and Government Affairs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Government Affairs Relationship Management.

  • Identify key policy priorities in alignment with business leaders and create and follow an interaction schedule on interactions with regulators government healthcare officials, Strategic developers and policy makers and senior officials in public or private health systems. Also enable and facilitate these connects with senior Danaher leaders.

  • In coordination with regions, build a strong strategy and lead execution of advocacy on high priority topics, including representation in key associations. Stay abreast of policy and legislative developments and proactively update and educate the leadership on the same. Design / execute product advocacy where applicable. Create a strategy to engage and manage external consultants as needed.

  • Monitor, analyze and advise on the potential impact of key political, economic and policy trends /developments; and lead the development of policy solutions in the country and share recommendations to address as required. Provide political analysis of trends in respective area and impact on the organization advise senior management on policy and regional issues.

  • Leading and driving new concepts with Opco GM’s, and other related functions (regulatory, legal, Marketing, communications etc.), to integrate Government Affairs into commercial strategy & roadmap.

  • Identify and develop appropriate long-term policy strategies to support organizational goals to position itself as a strategic partner in the healthcare sector in India & South Asia. Establish a credible profile for Danaher India with relevant policy makers and influencers (politicians, government officials, health system leaders and officials, NGOs, academics, etc.).

  • Work across all levels of different Danaher India to ensure consistent positioning and approach on policy issues leading to a structured Government Affairs approach (Monitoring, Information & Analysis, Strategic consideration, Policy, influencing).

    Candidate Profile

    Education:

  • Graduate/ Post Graduate Degree (Science, Medical, Healthcare domain will be an added advantage)

    Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • 20+ years of professional experience in public policy, (exposure to healthcare is preferred but can be flexed for a superb candidate). Candidate should be able to demonstrate their experience through work within government, companies, consultancies, trade associations, or equivalent organizations. The incumbent should have worked as Head of Government affairs and Policy for at-least 8 years out of 20+ years.

  • The incumbent should have demonstrated impact of policy in form of changing the level playing field for the organization. Keen working understanding of policy making (legislative and administrative policy making process and procedures), effective lobbying techniques, and collaboration with other companies and trade groups/ associations.

  • Superior Government affairs management capabilities with proven track record in strategic engagements. Ability to understand and navigate complex regulatory and policy issues and ability to connect them with company’s strategic business goals.

  • Advanced level verbal and written communication skills in Hindi and English and ability to articulate complex concepts int clear and compelling messaging.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with balanced self-awareness, acting with humility and ability to connect at all levels internally and externally.

  • Results oriented and ability adapt and deliver under pressure. Self-sufficient with high energy and drive

  • Maintain highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, with strongest professional reputation in the industry.

  • Comfort around higher management and proven track record of Influencing without authority

  • Knowledge of current and future global business trends

  • Knowledge of relevant policies

    Travel (Required estimated % of time)

  • Up to 50% of time is dedicated to visit the governmental, semi-governmental accounts within India.
