The Utilities Supervisor for Cytiva’s new site in Muskegon, Michigan. The site will be a highly complex and qualified environment in the Life Science industry. Reporting to the Facilities, Utilities, & Maintenance Manager, the Utilities Supervisor will secure initial site readiness and the site utility capabilities to support the ongoing K-Star project.

The role will lead a team of skilled technicians responsible for the sites utilities and maintenance of equipment and systems to ensure that e.g., water, gas, electricity, steam, or other utilities are delivered in a safe and timely manner.

The Utilities Supervisor is an experienced utility or maintenance professional and leader possessing the knowledge, skills, and ability to troubleshoot and repair sophisticated manufacturing and utility equipment issues with minimal guidance or supervision. This position will be expected to mentor and train technicians and as such should be a shown leader with outstanding communication and people skills. This role is expected to champion safety and quality on the shop floor and as such is expected to lead by example.

What you’ll do

  • Responsible for all current utility operations.

  • Assists with the development of departmental budgets and staffing forecasts.

  • Develops standard operating procedures, preventative maintenance tasks, and other job specific documentation and ensures that all equipment is operated and maintained in accordance with the Utility Department’s Asset Management Strategy.

  • Responsible for developing the training curriculum for utility technicians. Ensures all assigned training is completed on time. Mentor and train technicians and new hires on maintenance procedures, equipment operation and repairs.

  • Assists with the planning, scheduling and execution of site capital projects.

  • Utilities subject matter expert for all investigations, deviations and CAPA's assigned to Utilities.

  • Manages service contractors utilized for current maintenance services, calibrations as well as utility and equipment improvement projects.

    Who you are

  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 5 years experience working as a maintenance technician or skilled trade within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Experience leading a utility or maintenance team within a manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Reliability and Asset Management programs.

  • Expert level knowledge in two of the following areas; electrical, automation/controls, calibrations, plumbing/pipefitting, wastewater operations, HVAC-R, boilers/steam systems, RODI/WFI systems, autoclaves, Building Management Systems, Pumps, machining, welding.

  • Experience with OSHA standards specific to LOTO, Confined Space, working at height, Machine guarding and Hazardous Waste.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong emotional intelligence and mentoring skills in addition to having the successful ability to interpret and communicate sophisticated technical data.

  • Strong technical ability and troubleshooting skills.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience working with clean utilities is preferable.

  • Experience working within a Quality Management System is preferable.
