The Director of Market Development is responsible for building the commercial strategy by bringing together Beckman Coulter’s large portfolio of product and service solutions to different segments of the clinical laboratory market: Integrated Delivery Network (IDN), Distribution, Government Accounts, Group Purchasing Organizations (GPO) as well as Commercial & Specialty Laboratories. Based upon the trends, preferences and needs of these segments, you will lead both strategic and tactical marketing activities to improve market access, increase product and service solution adoption, achieve our sales targets, and maximize profitability.

Additionally, you will support the Performance Partnership initiatives that help our strategic accounts improve operational efficiency and support better patient outcome. You will collaborate with a broad range of cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization, including product marketers, senior sales and service leaders, pricing, and sales operation analysts. You will help remove roadblocks to closing business, stepping in to assist shepherding deals to close as necessary.

This position is fully remote. You will be an integral part of the North America commercial team and report to the Vice President, Marketing and Commercial Operations.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and implement commercial and market plans and programs, both short and long term, to increase Beckman Coulter’s Portfolio and Service revenue in key customer segments.

  • Drive the coordination of cross functional resources to win at key accounts

  • Collect Voice of Customer and identify forward thinking market trends to anticipate customer needs and identify market opportunities for growth

  • Lead account-based marketing programs to position Beckman Coulter as the leader within the IVD market space. Creating Value Props targeting key stakeholders: Hospital and Laboratory C-suite, Clinical Department Leaders, Clinical IT, Procurement, and Medical Director. Identify and collaborate with Leading Experts to create evidence-based materials (white papers, presentations, articles)

  • Lead annual budgeting and operational planning for marketing activities that lead to competitive wins and increased market share within the different targeted segments in North America

  • Establish and monitor analytics to measure the success of the teams initiatives.

  • Coach, develop and manage a team of associates.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 14+ years of relevant experience or Masters with 12+ years of relevant experience; or Doctoral with 12+ years of relevant experience

  • At least half of minimum experience above should be in the Medical Products industry, especially Diagnostics

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience leading individual contributors

  • Successful candidate will have excellent communication skills as well as analytical, project management and planning skills.

  • Willingness to travel 50% of the time

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience in a matrixed organization with extensive knowledge of the principal areas and roles of Marketing, Sales, Service, Contracting, and Business Development.

  • Cross-functional team leadership experience strongly preferred.

  • Proven project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills

The base salary range for this role is $175,000 - $205,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
