Danaher Corporation Director, US Leadership Development in New York, New York
The Director, Leadership Development oversees the creation of a multi-year strategy for US Commercial Leadership Development. This includes a needs assessment, design and implementation of criteria and curricula that build and drive excellence in current and future Cepheid leaders. The program owned by this role is intended to drive short and long term investment in people development, continual development of leadership staff, create a succession / expansion ready bench of talent to support contribution and retention across Cepheid. The Director is responsible for the creation, execution and evaluation of a Leadership Curriculum based on comprehensive assessment of aspiring and current leaders within the Organization. This role will refine and drive the Leadership Development Program (LDP) and be responsible for determining the cadence and number of cohorts needed to ready Cepheid for future growth. Additionally, this role will be capable of continual development of the second line leaders (Area Directors) as they grow their leadership teams with continual pull through. This role partners closely with Commercial Leadership, HR Business Partners, DBS Leaders and the Global Training and Development functions. The programs designed will effectively instill Cepheid leadership principles and values, coaching and mentoring skills, and identify trends in the evolution of the work that impacts high performing leadership roles.
This position reports to the Director, US Leadership and Development. This role will lead the design, hiring and development of the US Leadership Development Team to support the growth and expansion of Cepheid. All US Leadership Manager roles will report into this role upon hire.
This role will be based in the Sunnyvale Corporate Office, or Field-based, and will require international travel, as necessary, to support the global growth of Cepheid. This role will be a part of the Training and Development Leadership Team.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop the strategic for Leadership Development across a 3 to 5 year window
Develop, plan and execute the Leadership Development Plan, including but not limited to, the commercial sales and marketing organizations.
Align programming with business goals and HR strategy through assessment of current and future development and capability gaps using analysis, feedback tools, advisory groups and partnership with Cepheid University Leadership.
Demonstrates seamless partnership with key business functions and stakeholders to ensure ongoing initiatives meet / exceed stakeholder needs. Collaborates cross-functionally with business leaders across US and Global partners, as appropriate.
Oversees a values-based approach to leadership education and development within Cepheid. Designs and executes against plans using contemporary learning approaches, designing and implementing long-term programs focused on a combination of formal instruction, experiential learning, coaching and development exercises.
Fosters and drives professional knowledge and skill development to support a diverse business function.
Provides recommendations, solutions and partnership to the US and Global Training and Development Leadership to enact upon the strategic vision and tactical improvements in the teams and programs.
Identifies external vendors and consultants to augment development initiatives to bring high quality services and materials to meet program needs.
Frequently presents to Commercial Leadership teams for ongoing strategic endorsement, support and appropriate financial investment in existing and new leadership programs.
Ensure all individuals entering a managerial role have a comprehensive onboarding program inclusive of coaching models, sales models and business acumen skills.
Develop leadership programs and certifications for the first-line (Regional Director). second-line (Area Directors) and Country GM”s (if engaged in global development).
Design and lead the Leadership Development Program (LDP) for Cepheid, US.
Propose innovative ways to continue pull through leadership development at Cepheid, inclusive of Leadership Day prior to the NSM/GSM, Ongoing cohort development planning for leadership programs, etc.
Gather feedback from the sales team on a regular basis in order to continuously improve support programs
Education or Experience (in years):
10+ Years of cumulative experience as noted:
5 years+ in sales / customer facing roles.
5 years+ in sales management and leadership
Experience in various leadership roles (sales, marketing, training).
Experience in leadership development programs and credentialing.
Bachelor's degree is required.
Certifications in applicable sales and training methodologies preferred.
