Danaher Corporation DBS Coordinator in Newark, California


This position will report directly to the Danaher Business Systems Logistics Leader. The DBS Coordinator is expected to be self-directed and will be responsible to execute Newark, CA Logistics DBS activities, assist to optimize organizational performance, as well as support and sustain a continuous improvement culture.


  • Support the Danaher Business Systems Logistics Leader by:

  • Organizing and leading trainings concerning DBS methods and concepts such as Daily Management, Problem Solving, Standard Work at Green Belt level

  • Coach and facilitate teams in leading process improvement

  • Timely communicate progress, status, and obstacles of DBS to Project Owners and business leaders

  • Run value stream mapping and process mapping workshops to identify waste and prioritize improvement projects

  • Schedule and coordinate Newark Logistics DBS Events and DBS training

  • Attend DBS events and conduct audits to ensure sustainment of; Daily Management and Kaizen participation

  • Utilize DBS EH&S tools to assess and implement continuous improvements focused on material handling.

  • Engage with the Global Logistics Training team to create training programs to ensure program development and delivery are managed such as; 5S, safe and proper material handling including proper lifting techniques, equipment such as pallet jack, forklift, pallet wrapping operations, drivers safety, injury reporting, ergonomics, evacuation procedure and any safety related training associated with material handling.

  • Coordinate with Process Validation Coordinator to modify new hire safety programs that encompasses all the above safety topics.

  • Deliver safety training as required.

  • Mentor and coach associates on good safety practices.

  • Engage with associates at daily management to share observations to create awareness and promote safety ideas. This includes employee recognition for safety ideas implemented.

  • Conduct random associate interviews to ensure safety topics, guidelines and trainings are being understood and practiced.

  • Conduct 5S and safety audits at facilities to identify unsafe conditions, acts / behaviors, and near misses and advise immediate and permanent countermeasures and in some cases develop and monitor action plans for completion.

  • Ensure follow through on completions of 5S and safety audits.

  • Work with all Supervisors to investigate injury reports and follow-up to ensure corrective action is taken and learnings are shared across all teams and shifts.

  • Support the company’s existing ergonomics program by identify areas of opportunities and work with EHS to implement solutions.

  • May be assigned to other job functions as required to meet business needs.


  • Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time


Education and Experience (in years):

  • BA/BS degree desired

  • At least 2 years’

  • proven experience leading and delivering process improvement projects

  • delivering training at various levels throughout an organization.

  • experience leading a team

  • Proven leadership skills to drive projects in a complex environment with several stakeholders

  • Solid knowledge based on the practical experience of Lean tools, methods, and behaviors

Knowledge and skills:

  • Ability to identify root causes of problems, generate and evaluate creative alternative solutions, implement and sustain solutions.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (English written and spoken)

  • Comfortable to work in a very agile business with rapid growth, with capability to develop and execute priorities with rapidly changing business

  • Intermediate computer skills including a moderate understanding of operating systems, word processing, graphics, spreadsheets, and database. Experience with Microsoft; Excel, SharePoint, Visio, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams

  • Exceptional social and interpersonal skills;

  • friendliness, confidence, giving and receiving feedback, clarity and adapting to different communication styles.

  • Use active listening skills while observing processes and activities, proactively asking questions to understand,

  • Able to communicate with individual contributors and subject matter experts to elicit out of the box thinking and problem solving. Able to coach individuals to identify future improvements. Speak and exercise empathy to ensure messages and tone are clear and respectful.

  • Strong sense of urgency; able to think strategically, act methodically, and quickly to solve problems. Must feel comfortable scheduling, coordinating and managing multiple projects.

  • Ability to consult with teams and leaders on the various aspects and best practices

Physical requirements/abilities:

  • Can lift 30 pounds

  • Ability to work at a desk with computer for extended periods of time

  • Must be able to stand for several hours


  • Previous experience in Logistics Operations and medical device industry will be an added advantage
