Danaher Corporation Maintenance Technician III in Newark, California

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician III will be responsible for operation, repairing and maintaining equipment related to building(s), production, utilities, lighting, and plumbing during day or swing shift. In addition, the technician will complete all work in accordance with safety procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides primary support and addresses any Facilities request during assigned shift.

  • Conducts periodic inspections and identifies malfunction of equipment or systems; orders repair parts as needed for equipment (with supervisor’s approval). Makes recommendations to upgrade maintenance operations and/or implement savings opportunities.

  • Performs repairs and maintenance for lab and process equipment.

  • Performs skilled maintenance, which may include working with electrical, plumbing and/or HVAC systems, water treatment systems and compressed air systems. Maintains equipment by monitoring status and addressing problems using troubleshooting and repair techniques.

  • Will coordinate planned and unplanned activities with contractors and vendors to perform repairs and preventative maintenance activities for lab and process equipment as needed.

  • Responds immediately to emergency situations and customer concerns.

  • Carefully documents all repairs and adjustment activities.

  • Records all maintenance and general facilities activities in the company’s work order system (Blue Mountains Regulatory Asset Manager - RAM).

  • Provides support to general Facilities Services and EH&S as needed.

  • Assists with training and performance building of other technicians.

TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience (in years):

  • High School degree (or equivalent experience) with 4-6 years of related work experience OR

  • AA or Technical Trade Degree with 2-4 years of related work experience.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Must have a strong sense of teamwork.

  • Previous experience working in a GLP/GMP environment is needed.

  • EPA certification is required.

  • Must have hands-on experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining an HVAC system.

  • Must have hands-on experience with electrical and plumbing troubleshooting, preferably in a manufacturing environment

  • Must be willing to travel other sites and work overtime, including weekends.

  • Excellent workmanship standards are essential.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Basic computer skills and working knowledge of MS-Word and Excel.

Physical requirements/abilities:

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Must be able to stand for several hours. Work may involve repetitive arm/wrist motions.
