The Sr. EHS Engineer is responsible for managing the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation throughout Cepheid. This position will serve as a Subject Matter Expert in Environmental Health & Safety for Cepheid at the site level.
This position is part of the EHS Department and will be located in Newark, CA.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Manage and implement site EHS compliance and management systems in accordance with governmental and company requirements.
Partner with Cepheid site leaders to continuously improve the safety culture, awareness, and accountability in support of EHS programs.
Evaluate proposed Federal, state, and local EHS compliance laws and regulations to determine impact to compliance programs and business operations.
Manage environmental compliance metrics globally including Storm, hazardous material management, Air permits, Life Safety, Hazardous Wastes, Form R reporting, Spill Prevention Countermeasures and Control Programs and chemical tracking and inventory programs.
Complete audits, IH sampling, ergonomic assessments, and assists in pollution prevention activities.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related work experience
Experience in the field of Environmental, Health and Safety and with EHS compliance and management systems and programs
Strong project management skills as the position requires project manage across global operations
Strong data management and analysis skills as the position will be responsible for data management for global ESH.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Experience working in a Medical device or IVD Manufacturing facility
Black or Green Belt Six Sigma or Lean Tools
