Based in Newark, California the Stockroom Manager will be responsible for coaching, motivating, and leading the stockroom employees to accomplish the productivity goals for the day and establishing a culture of positive employee relations while ensuring all processes, best practices, and policies are adhered to consistently.
Introduction to the role: This role is a floor position that will require 75% of the workday spent in the stockroom operations. You will oversee a 2-shift operation 7x24 leading four supervisors along with 30-40 material handlers. This role will require you create a climate in which people want to do their best; empowers others; invites input from each person; makes each individual feel his/her work is important; is someone people like working for and with.
Essential job responsibilities:
Provides daily direction and leadership to supervisors and material handlers.
Delegating and assigning tasks and targets and evaluating the working of the staff.
Conducts regular one on one meetings; builds performance objectives and development plans.
Prioritizes and conducts all required training activities.
Accountable for the safe operation of all equipment, including forklifts, hand tools, and other equipment in the operation.
Be able to perform all activities of personnel supervised.
Makes recommendations for headcount needs including involvement in recruitment and selection process.
Accountable for staffing, training, motivation and leadership.
Ensures that orders transacted are verified against pertinent documentation.
Establishes and maintains procedures for resolving and meeting company and customer delivery commitments by handling materials, providing labor, and effective use of time.
Recommends and assists in implementing operating procedures and promotes continual improvement.
Define critical metrics where necessary (ideally through internal or external benchmarking), analyze process performance and suggest process improvement or user training.
On Time Delivery: Research missed or late shipments/staging for production lines.
Shipping/Staging Errors: Identify root cause.
Inventory control: Research/reconcile end of day cycle count variances.
Install and Facilitate Visual & Daily Management at Gemba
Facilitate and lead PSP Teams in everyday Problem Solving (e.g., Gemba DIVE Teams and support development of Monthly KPI PSPs).
Follows stockroom methods for material using the accurate SOP and takes ownership of process documentation creation, changes and periodic review.
Resolves emergent issues for expedited deliveries to the customer.
Maintain audit readiness 24x7. Takes action to implement effective countermeasures and supervise sustainment of audit findings.
Maintain 5S readiness 24x7. Promote 5S activities to sustain warehouse organization and safety.
Immediately document and report to the Sr management any situation, incident or problems that directly relate to the efficient, complete, and timely dispatch of all assigned work.
Education or Experience (in years):
Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in field with 5+ years of related work experience
Experience using SAP.
Understanding of production scheduling and forecasting principals.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Experience with SOPs, GMP, ISO, JIT, MRP.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
High level understanding of warehousing and inventory management
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS (optional):
Reagent manufacturing experience.
Related experience in a diagnostic, medical device, or pharmaceutical environment.
