The Associate Scientist - TCP Manufacturing for Leica Biosystems is responsible for maintaining supply of primary antibodies for the customers of Leica Biosystems.

This position is part of the Tissue Culture Production department, located in Newcastle and will be on-site At Leica Biosystems, where our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.

You will be a part of the Tissue Culture Production team and report to the Operating Unit Manager - TCP responsible for training, resourcing and leadership for delivering on KPIs. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Enhance your Hybridoma Tissue Culture knowledge and skillset whilst building the capabilities of the team

  • Utilise your experience to aid technology transfers and process improvements to meet delivery KPIs whilst building upon your purification skills

  • Work autonomously and/or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • A relevant scientific qualification (BSc/MSc) in a related subject

  • Operational GEMBA experience in a mammalian tissue-culture based environment, hybridoma experience preferred, and a proven aptitude for lab work in a FMCG environment

  • Excellent aseptic technique and extensive relevant technical knowledge in hybridoma technology

  • Proven track record in coaching and mentoring peers, applying problem solving logic and the leading and implementation of projects (continuous improvements)

  • Experienced in process development, method validation and technology transfer to ensure cell line integrity

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience leading small projects

  • Experience leading a small team

  • Tissue Culture (Human and/or Hybridoma)

  • ELISA testing and troubleshooting

  • Optimising bioprocess parameters to improve yield

  • Microtomy

  • Kanban and Inventory management
